Dark brown with a great looking frothy head. Smells of deep malt, roast, chocolate and heavy alcohol. Sweet to the touch with alcohol again and lots of bitter roast. Raisin. Oily deep black. Too buch booze burn.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: APR 22, 2015 24.12.2014. Very intense aroma with syrupy sweet roasted malts, chocolate, alcohol. Intense, full bodied, chocolate, roast, rum etc but too much alcohol. Disappointment for a paradox, too boozy.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a black beer with as good as no head.
Smells Vanilla, oaky, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Small medicinal hint sadly.
Tastes amlt bitter.
Full thick beer wich leaves a malt bitter palate where you pick up a lot of the rum barrel.
Great degustation beer!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
0.33l bottle. Thanks for sharing with me Chris. Black body, light brown head. Aroma and taste of dark rum, coffee, chocolate, cream, sour cherry and floral hops. You can really feel the alcohol, but itís not disturbingly harsh at all. Complex and heavy. Not an everyday beer, thatís for sure.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
330 ml bottle at home. Pfjew liquorice and DROP bomb (Dutch anice sweet). Aroma starts of nicely with dark chocolate and burnt caramel. Medium body with lots of sweetness, burnt coffee and malt roast and pfjew a lot of alcohol, alcohol burn in the end. Taste is liquorice and drop, some mocca coffee as well. Too high on the alcohol.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from local distributor. Aroma strong, rum evident, also loads of roasted flavours. Pitch colour, but ordinary texture. Taste reveals extended barrel exposure IMO. 12 months brought out lots of rum flavours, which is cool, but also brings out alcohol, which impacts drinkability and overall deliciousness. Excellent beer nevertheless.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Birratrovo, Como
Black color. Aroma of dark caramel and a bit of treacle; hints of chocolate and warming winter punch; alcohol. Full bodied; good flavor of caramel with some chocolate; moderate sweetness (fits well); strong expected bitterness; the alcohol presence is too strong and spoils this beer.
Too boozy. And way too expensive.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Small brown head. Opaque black body. Toffee and whisky aroma with
chocolatey plum notes. Dry earthy toffee and plastic taste with
chocolatey spice notes. Full-bodied. Mild, flat, slightly hot and
powdery mouthfeel. Sweet earthy dusty chocolatey aftertaste with
toffee and syrup. Earthy musty flavours dominate, with linoleum and
old books, but itís still nice and interesting. A sippable beer, but a
bit over the top now two years later. (0.33l bottle, I forget where
