Had this in storage for a year.Left it out with carrots and biscuits for Santa. Deep dark with a head that fades fairly quickly. Boozey. Raisins. Plums. Sweetness. Rum truffles. Slightly high carbonation. Dark chocolates. More booze. Not too bad as a big rum truffle chocolate experience, which very much suits the night Iím drinking it on. Xmas Paradox...nice !

Bottle sample at a tasting at Vovaís place. Thanks Vova. Dark brown to black-colored, not opaque, with amber hues. Aroma ohas some rum, vanilla, wood, fruity notes and some chocolate. Sweet and boozy flavor with chocolate, some coconut, vanilla, rum, and warming alcohol in the finish. Medium to full-bodied. Good and interesting but a bit too boozy.

Taste comprises dark malts. booze forward, big roast, bitter chocolate, rum baba, rumíoíclock, does the job on the tin ! Full bodied, soft carbonation, big boozey do roastness in the finale, hot tail lights, chewy like ! Decent enough impy, falls short of the top draw 4, a little harsh on the booze but god tackle for a 15 er !

Small creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is kind of schizophrenic, in one way itís all boozy, turpentine, oak. Then itís just very rich and sweet, dark malts, licorice bark, cocoa, dark sugar, oak, alcohol, tar. Taste is a little boozy, dark malts, alcohol, oak, cocoa, dark fruits, licorice, pine needles, burnt caramel, ashtray. Longlasting bitterness, and in a strange way a little "watery" mouthfeel?! Canít really say I like this one anymore. When it first arrived it was really nice, with masses of licorice. Now itís just faded a lot and itís wery boozy and strange.

Pours black with low tan head. Aroma of rum cask, dates, dried figs, raisins, alcohol, muscovado. Taste is balanced rum sweet with a huge alcohol kick towards the finish. Finish itself is massive and lingering with tons of warming alcohol. Body is rich and creamy with flat carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at Brewdog Bar Stockholm. Pours pitch black with no head. Leaves small lacerations when swirled. Aroma is rum, muscovado sugar, coffee, figs, vanilla. Taste is rum, muscovado sugar, coffee, vanilla, dark fruit. Aftertaste is pure coffee, rum and booze. Could do with a bit more body, otherwise fantastic! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2/VII/13 - 33cl bottle @ De Hopduvel (Gent) - BB: 28/X/22 - batch: 334 (2013-597) Thanks to Bobochamp for sharing the bottle!

Clear dark red brown beer, some big bubbles creating a small foamy layer on top of the beer. Aroma: sugary, caramel, vanilla, pretty intense, sweet, dried orange peel, toast. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: caramel, sugary, vanilla, orange peel, honey, lots of alcohol, toast, raisins, fruity. Aftertaste: little bitter, caramel, alcohol, pretty fruity, sugary, chocolate, nice clean ending though. Fruity rum notes, which I really like in this beer.

Bottles enjoyed on 2 consecutive summer nights at the BrewDog in Bristol. I had tried BrewDog beers before and been relatively unimpressed (their íentry levelí beers) concluding them to be over-hyped. I should not have been so quick to judge based upon those. This beer is amazing. If Iím not drinking a beer, I drink rum, so maybe Iím somewhat biased, though that said other rum matured beers Iíve tried have not really impressed me. And at £11 a bottle this one almost didnít get a chance to. But I ventured in and am so glad I did, as I would go as far as to say this was one of the best beers I have tried. This was like drinking liquidised chocolate Caribbean Rum Cake. Rum, chocolate, caramel, coffee, truffles and more rum in a beer. One for sipping not downing. One for savouring. And savour it I did.

Thanks to BoBoChamp for sharing a sample of this as well. Iíve not been a huge fan of the Paradox series historically but this may sway me to pick up one again. For a big imperial stout it is almost balanced enough to drink five to six ounces. Unfortunately I suspect the price point is enough to tip me towards more affordable alternatives.

Aroma / Appearance - The oily black base leave a rich velvety liquid in the glass. The sheer legs are like sheets of melting ice on a window pane. Sweet fruits, rum, and heavy grade chocolate dominate which tells me it might have spent just a bit too long aging.

Flavor / Palate - The rum feel is immediate from the first sip. Coffee and chocolate truffles help bring some more depth before a plummy finish. Iím not sure what to make of the total experience. it seems to work for the most part but there is still room for improvement.
