Great looking bottle and even comes in a box. Pours very black with a champagne like head that vanishes very quickly.
Very rich, complex, sweet, christmas flavours. With a Cpt. Morgans dark-like finish.
Really glad I got the chance to try this, amazing.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottles enjoyed on 2 consecutive summer nights at the BrewDog in Bristol. I had tried BrewDog beers before and been relatively unimpressed (their ’entry level’ beers) concluding them to be over-hyped. I should not have been so quick to judge based upon those. This beer is amazing.
If I’m not drinking a beer, I drink rum, so maybe I’m somewhat biased, though that said other rum matured beers I’ve tried have not really impressed me. And at Ł11 a bottle this one almost didn’t get a chance to. But I ventured in and am so glad I did, as I would go as far as to say this was one of the best beers I have tried.
This was like drinking liquidised chocolate Caribbean Rum Cake. Rum, chocolate, caramel, coffee, truffles and more rum in a beer. One for sipping not downing. One for savouring. And savour it I did.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Well first to review, I couldn’t wait until Christmas to try this one.
This was poured into a very large brandy snifter. Colour is very dark brown to black with a small dark tan head, which dissipated quickly. On the nose is Rum, Rum and more Rum, Molasses, burnt sugar and sweet alcohol.
Mouthfeel is thinner than expected with an initial champagne like carbonation.
Taste is muted compared to the smell but with the same elements (Rum, burnt sugar, sweet, roasted malts) and not as alcoholic as I thought it would be.
Overall a great beer. I can’t wait to try the Isle of Arran version of this.

Bottle, thanks Craig. Black with tan head that fades to ring. Aroma of rum and licorice, slightly fruity, fig and dates. Taste is rich licorice and molasses, ovaltine, very little rum, some chocolate on the finish. Deliciously thick and sweet. Excellent.

Pours a very dark brown colour with a fair tan head. A huge rum aroma with raisins, blackcurrants, dark chocolate, coconut, christmas pudding, oak and alcohol. Similar flavours with nicely balanced alcohol and an oily mouth-feel. Lovely!

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance: Black color with a big foamy bubbly light beige head. Ok lacing.
Aroma: Smells like a pirate party in The Caribbean. And a bottle of rum….
Palate: Medium to full body. Balanced sweetness and some bitterness. Creamy carbonation. Oily texture.
Taste: Outstanding complexity and well blended pirate drink. No problem to detect The Rum in this one. Fruity, dark malt, vanilla and raisins. It has a well hidden but very warming alcohol content.
Overall impression: I have been waiting some time before I opened this one. Wanted to explore The Imperial Stout style a little bit more. What a success. This beer is absolutely more of everything, without falling over The Edge! I am a huge fan of BrewDog!
Personal stats: Bottle from Vinmonopolet Oslo - Vika in Oslo, Norway.

First of all, great body. The head goes away soon. The 15% of alcohol does not appear at all. At some medium temperature I could feel the roasted smell and taste of barley but all along it was rum, rum, rum. The aging should have been no more than 8 months in my opinion. The year-round-ageing made the beer too "rum-ey" for my palate. Not a bad thing though as I like rum very much. In the end, I have a great dizzy head and the beer was awesome. Totally recommended for all the imperial lovers.
