A 10% decadent and indulgent Imperial Russian Stout. Brewed with a copious amount of dark malts, infused with coffee beans during the boil and after fermentation and aged on cacao nibs, vanilla pods and toasted oak chips. This opulent whirl of chocolate, coffee, dark malts and hops even rivals the most colourful of imperial Faberge eggs. Originally created to celebrate the Russian Royal Family, this is a fitting tribute with which to toast your own empire.

330ml bottle. A great example of a Russian Imperial Stout. This beer has an amazing mouthfeel - if you sip a tiny amount and let it sit across your tongue it is like velvety chocolate.

330 ml bottle bb 03/12/19, from BeerLovers Vienna.
Black body, with a medium, dense, creamy, dark coffee-colored head.
Aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice, some soy sauce, some tobacco, some dark fruits.
Tastes of coffee, dark chocolate, tobacco, wood, liquorice, cocoa powder, soy sauce, some vanilla, subtle booze.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, dry, wooden, a bit warm, with tobacco, liquorice, coffee, cocoa, slight vanilla.

Very nice, but not outstanding in my opinion. Full and well balanced, with interesting, strong dark notes, but not very complex maybe. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall I’ve had better style example, while it’s still an enjoyable beer I would drink again.

Disappointing for nine euros a bottle. Pours thick like engine oil, beautiful brown head. Smell is non-existent, like a faintly damp cereal box. Flavor is thick, stout, but zero complexity. Would not recommend, frankly I probably won’t buy another big-money Brewdog beer. Shame.
