3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Backlog, tried (on tap?) at Stockholm Beer & Whiskey 2013. Didn’t quite do it for me, there just wasn’t enough aroma in it to compete with the other brews in the same category.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
11.2 oz bottle. Dark brown with a fading tan head. Nose is cocoa, molasses, mild coffee and light citrus. Creamy medium body with a sharp tang. Taste is plum and French roast getting quite bitter and burnt. Oddly i don’t get much cocoa or vanilla but does have a brash bite that i enjoy.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Bottle in the Hemelvaart Bier Café, Bedale. Pours very dark with an amazing chocolatey head. Wow, this is really very good. Chocolate and coffee at the forefront in perfect proportions. Some oak and vanilla in the background. Alcohol just the right balance between warming and well hidden. Amazing.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
On tap. Pitch black body, with an average brown head that diminishes slowly, leaving a good lace, what a beauty... Cocoa, coffee and vanilla notes on the aroma, would have wanted it to be more intense, but it is still very welcoming. Medium sweet and medium bitter taste, pretty complex, although cocoa is a tad stronger, the name implies that obviously. Soft carbonation, smooth texture, full bodied. Maybe the cocoa notes are a little overpowered for me, but, still, that beer rocked my socks off. Amazing, and highly drinkable.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Pitch black color, creamy brownish head. Aroma is malty, light alcoholic, intensive roastiness, bitter chocolate, hints of dark fruits. Flavor is malty, velvety, alcoholic, notes of liquorice, cacao, dark chocolate, coffee. Alcohol content is not so well integrated in my opinion but gets better if it is warmer.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2014 Pours a dark thick black with a dark brown head, looks quite thick. Dark chocolate and coffee smell. Big mouth feel almost chewy, coffee and toasty flavours. Big beer but quite deceptive as the alcohol hides well.
