COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
keg/ bottle 2012 Prototypes release.
A 10% decadent and indulgent Imperial Russian Stout. Brewed with a copious amount of dark malts, infused with coffee beans during the boil and after fermentation and aged on cacao nibs, vanilla pods and toasted oak chips. This opulent whirl of chocolate, coffee, dark malts and hops even rivals the most colourful of imperial Faberge eggs. Originally created to celebrate the Russian Royal Family, this is a fitting tribute with which to toast your own empire.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Pours really black with a really dark chocolate head. Aroma seems darkly coffe and chocolate. Med + body. Flavor is really dark chocolate with some strong dark coffee. There is the slightest suggestion of sweet. Sort of like putting cocoa powder in your mouth. Might be a cinnamon note. And pepper.

Bottle from Supermarket Liquors in Fort Collins. pours near black with a pretty but transient light brown head and a chocolate aroma. There is a full-bodied chocolate and coffee flavor with a dry bitter finish. Very tasty.

smells like bitter dark black chocolate, looks like watery treacle when poured with a thick foamy brown head, tastes like a mild whiskey mixed with bitter dark chocolate with a hint of brown sugar? treacle?? i cant quite think what it is. I think the alcohol burn is i bit too much, i know its a strong beer but thats me, its still very good, lose the burn and gain some points!

Draught at BrewDog, Camden on 16 Dec 2012. Poured black, with a dense tan head and good lacing. Aroma of coffee, cocoa, vanilla and dried fruit. Massive flavours; lots of roasted malt, dark chocolate, balanced sweetness from dark fruit and vanilla notes. Finish was perfect mix of burnt malt, espresso and caramel and burnt sugars. Fantastic beer!

2014-07-04. Black body with a nice brown head. 3+ Aroma of dusty dry cocoa and mild roast. Flavour has a rich dark malt core that is fairly sweet but the roasty cocoa character is fairly bitter. Lingering roast long into the aftertaste. Medium to full bodied palate, moderate carbonation. Solid but simple. Alcohol is remarkably restrained - I had no idea it was this strong until entering my rating! Bottle from BrewDog, Glasgow.

Bottled from speciaalbierpakket.nl, batch 164 BB 12-07-18, large sample, served in a TeKu. Dark color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of dark roast, chocolate, coffee, slight smoked notes. Bit sweet, medium malty bitter. Quite dry, ashy, cacao makes it dry. Lots of flavors, slightly harsh. I would love to see a bit more creaminess, but still this one is quite nice.
