A 10% decadent and indulgent Imperial Russian Stout. Brewed with a copious amount of dark malts, infused with coffee beans during the boil and after fermentation and aged on cacao nibs, vanilla pods and toasted oak chips. This opulent whirl of chocolate, coffee, dark malts and hops even rivals the most colourful of imperial Faberge eggs. Originally created to celebrate the Russian Royal Family, this is a fitting tribute with which to toast your own empire.

Pours a thick dark brown with a dark brown foam. At first it’s like a good RIS. Then it warms. Wow! Eventually it’s like coffee mixed with baking cocoa and a little caramel . Pretty intense. Love it!

Prachtige RIS.

Bottle 0,33. Pours oil black with dark brown, quickly diminishing, head. Aroma of roasted malts, dark chocolate and some coffee, dark fruits perhaps?. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate and hint of coffee as well. Nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation. Excellent warm up for tonight’s concert.

Aged bottle shared with a friend at home, on St. Patrick’s day. Pours opaque black with thick but diminishing creamy brown head. Full body, rich textures, rich mouthfeel, dry bitter finish. Strong roasted malt aromas, coffee and chocolate, vanilla hints, citrus zest, resin, licorice and raisin notes. Very complex, very strong with a significant grainy backbone. Excellent.

Scotland Will be FREE! There, now that I’ve got that out of my system....FREEDOM! Lurking nose of all the dark malts that could be spared...some coffee and dark chocolate. Short lived very dark head. Glistening body. Yup, as in the deScription....chocolate coffee and then malts and hops. Stoic and gravitous. Much needed after a day of weird angle and awkward position work in the basement. The Russians couldn’t make anything this good and strong except maybe a train or a tank, or a reinforced bunker.

Appearance: Pitch Black, Dark Brown Silky Head; Nose: Heavy Roasted/Burnt Barley, Deep Dark Chocolate, Coffee; Taste: The taste follows the nose with major roasted barley that is met with a dark chocolate overtone, and right when one thinks it will turn bitter, this beer finishes nicely with a coffee undertone. Mouth/Feel: Smooth as a Stout should Overall: 3.9 out of 5

330ml bottle ordered online. Thick jet black, pouring thickly with a thin brown head. Deep aroma of toffee and coffee that follows through to the taste. Strong and nuanced but with remarkably little after taste. Excellent imperial stout.

From bottle; pours dark as night, with deep, dark, healthy head which gradually turns to light-med brown. Fair longevity on head. Nice aroma of boozy cocoa. Tastes of balanced cocoa with a bit of coffee and lingering cocoa bitterness, boozy. A nice drop

UPDATED: APR 24, 2016 Pours pitch black, almost like oil, with a deep Brown head. Aroma first and foremost of chocolate, milky chocolate, then fading to dark chocolate and a hint of coffee and vanilla. Slight wood tones. Taste is not quite as thick or sweet as the aroma implies. Cacao nibs and roast malt flavours. Boozy and oak finish.
