keg/ bottle 2012 Prototypes release.
A 10% decadent and indulgent Imperial Russian Stout. Brewed with a copious amount of dark malts, infused with coffee beans during the boil and after fermentation and aged on cacao nibs, vanilla pods and toasted oak chips. This opulent whirl of chocolate, coffee, dark malts and hops even rivals the most colourful of imperial Faberge eggs. Originally created to celebrate the Russian Royal Family, this is a fitting tribute with which to toast your own empire.

This is a big bad mofo. Black, with a massive cocoa nose. Tastes big and boozy. Bold dark chocolate with Christmas pudding fruits, probably from the coffee. Smooth rich and warming. Good stuff.

Bottle from Malt Traders 240115. This is a super big beer done in typical Brewdog fashion. Looks like oil and tastes like chocolate. Thick and syrupy in the glass but thinner in the mouth that I was expecting.

Bottle at home (batch 046). This must be the darkest ale ever: thick and oil-black with a big brown and creamy head. Roasted and smoky, woody tones dominate the nose and taste, bitter black coffee and dark chocolate come second with a soft and creamy, vanilla and burnt caramel finish. Lingering bittersweet dark chocolate in the aftertaste, dry too. Medium carbonation, silky soft and creamy mouthfeel, full body.

Delicious imperial stout. Not as sweet as ones made stateside which is a nice surprise. Aroma was good. Dark roasted malt and coffee. Pour was a beautiful thick inky black with a one finger mocha tan head. Taste was nice and bitter. Not cloying sweetness. Roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Couldn’t pick up any vanilla but that’s OK. The hops bitter the finish and there was no lingering sweetness. Thick mouth feel and nice carbonation.

Bottle. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly diminished with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee, chocolate, wood and alcohol aroma. Medium to heavy toasted chocolate malt flavor with a medium to heavy dark bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a solid beer.

Perfect intense aroma - chocolate, coffee, caramel.. Same taste, balanced with adequate bitterness. Neither aroma nor taste reveils alcohol - perfect

Bottle: Literally black with a creamy and quite stable dark brown head; moderate to solid dryish complex nose: wood, leather, dark malt , chocolate and fruits; solid sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied and very soft; solid and lingering sweet bitter finish, full of cacao, fruits and tobacco. Great performance…

On tap at 101 BK in Columbus. Dark black with thin medium brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, licorice, fruity esters. Flavor is more roasted malt, almost a little burnt flavor and tartness. Always good to see a new brew dog on tap. A little of a let down considering the competition in this department.

A deep dark imperial stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, sweet caramel chocolate with smooth coffee grind, nice fruity notes, plums, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity chocolate malt with light peated notes, grassy hops, light molasses and soil, licorice notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and smooth. On tap at Bar Hop.

Nice relaxing stout. Coffee and chocolate ring true, bitterness adds a little kick. Got me good.
