Dry coffee grounds in the nose, some vegetal hops, the French oak doesn’t really show up. Medium to light body, little to no thickness, very watery. Mild, ashy, simple. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2009 (Bottle) Pours dark reddish brown to black with a small brown head. The aroma holds roasted and aromatic coffee tones of green pepper, jalapeno oil, gravel and parsley. Green notes of herbal and resiny hops alongside buttery and light vanilla/wood-ish oak. The nose is typical Danish - very coffee and hop-driven. Hints of black currant liquorice candy. Maybe a whisper of dark fruits. The flavour is light sweet, light to medium bitter and light acidic with tones of peppery coffee, green hops, tannin-ish oak and bitter dark chocolate. Some caramel. The mouthfeel is clean, light oily and round with a soft carbonation. Chocolaty coffee roast and medium bitter hops on the finish. Medium bodied.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 16, 2009 (Bottled 9/11/2008) Very dark brown with a smallish, bubbly, mostly fading but a bit lacy, beige head. Mild aroma of licorice, coffee, roasted but not burned malt, some oatmeal sourness. Roasted coffee more evident in the flavor, with roasted, slightly sweet malt, and a touch of ashy burnedness in the dryish finish. Medium to full body, smooth palate with soft carbonation. Needs to warm up a bit to open up. After that, it is a lot like Slottskällans IS, yet with something missing. Very smooth, clean and drinkable, but lacks in overall depth and complexity - as well as in aroma. Tmoney99 (4807), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee and earthy aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration.
My expectations where met with a solid drinkable beer. alexsdad06 (1138), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 27, 2009 Sampled @ DLD09 and later from a bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk. Pours dark brown with reddish highlights and a small beige head. The aroma only has a hint of coffee one would expect. I also get some roast and an earthy hoppiness. The flavor has more coffee, some roast, earthy hops, and a dry bitter finish. Not bad, but I hoped for more. marcus (1918), Sacramento, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Consumed at Alvinne. Labeled as Brewdog & Danish Beerhouse Imperial Stout. Pours dark black with no head. Aromas of coffee & treacle. Maybe. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor is coffee and dark toasted malt. An ok experience, but pales next to Paradox issues. Finshes coffee and reasonably bitter.
