COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously known as ’Dead Pony Club’.

Bottle and keg: Filtered

Ingredients: Spring Blend, Cara and Crystal Malts; Simcoe, Citra and HBC hops.

This Californian Pale Ale packs a huge hoppy punch. A 21st century low amplitude, high voltage hop hit. Some people say slow is good. We believe fast is better. Being shot from a Hoppy Howitzer beats the hell out of trotting round a submissive paddock. That’s why the internal combustion engine got mounted onto two wheels. Screw down the throttle and listen for that dull banshee howl floating back from those malted mufflers. Drink fast, live fast, sleep late and rip it up down empty streets. This pale ale is chopped, tuned and ready to roll. Fuel up and hold tight, this little thoroughbred kicks like a mule. Perfect for drinking by the bottle, case or even keg.

Apa comparison session. This one was easily distinguished by the brewdog aroma of hops and peaches. A bit lacking cause of the abv, but generally really good beer.

Maker: Brewdog, Ellon, Aberdeenshire, AB41 8BX Beer: Dead Pony Pale Ale (bottled, 330ml) Style: American IPA ALC.VOL.: 3.8% This is a "session" (which means, low acoloholic volume) IPA by the now-famous Scottish craft brewery that has expanded from 2 employees in 2007 to 358 as of 2014. Color: deep golden, clear Nose: intense grapefruit, herbs, pinewood, slightly sweet Texture: despite the low volume, not watery, rather full mouthfeel Taste: Intense bitterness at first, dry, strong herbal notes, grapefruit, resinous pinewood. Resinous notes increase towards the middle, fruit is muted now. Finish is dry, bitter, hoppy. Pinewood returns in the long-lasting aftertaste. Impressions: Familiar grapefruit and resinous pinewood in this American IPA, but more bitter than even most USA-made IPAs. No doubt the makers are trying to hide the low alcoholic volume by making it as bitter as possible (they did that too in their 1% ALC beer, The Nanny State). Not subtle, but powerful and certainly thirst-quenching.

Aroma: mango, tropical fruiits, pine resin. Taste: light to moderate bitterness, very light sweeteness. Some rotten fruits in flavour. Light citrus astrigency and light metall in the aftertaste. Quite simple session beer but has a good aroma.

Orange pour, small white head with a yellow tint. Hops on the nose, hint of caramel and some grass. Taste has a hoppy rush at first. Other than that it’s very light as one might expect. You get a bit of citrus in the background. The end is quite amusing as it almost feels like it dissipates in your mouth. Mouthfeel is very light with some carbonation to soften it up. It’s alright for an lighter IPA, very easy to drink and enjoy.

Alengrin (3029) - BELGIUM - MAY 17, 2015
Low-alcohol APA with stable, off-white, sticky head and beautiful deep orange blonde, almost amber colour with a lot of fizz. Nice and perfumey aroma of pine resin, grapefruit, orange peel, bitter honey, peanuts, walnuts, nettles, caramel, toasted bread. Soft and restrainedly fruity taste, some banana and apricot, malt ’fruitiness’, very smooth, light on the tongue, medium carbo, biscuity and herbally, citrussy hoppy finish, bittering and a bit resinous. Brewdog has done pretty extreme things in its existence, but this one is clearly about drinkability and balance, and achieves very well at that.
