Based on AB04, but with added vanilla, 3.5 times the chilli, and a different coffee

Black with a small dark brown head that disappears quickly. Aroma: cocoa, hot chili, coffee, roasted. Taste: salty licorice, coffee beans, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, chili, sea salt. Come to think of it, this is like one of Lindt’s chocolates but can’t remember which. Full-bodied. In my memory, I liked AB:04 better, but I see now that one only got a 3.7 score. Nevermind, this was good.

Bottle at home. The colour is pitch black wIth a medium ash light brown head. Nice roasted aroma of coffee, ash, leather, oak, chocolate truffles and meat bouillon cube. Complex flavours of the same but with dark chocolate and some chilli. Has a very soft and rich mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. An incredibly complex and fantastic beer.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2012 Bottled. Pours black with a small tan head. Nose of roasted malts, chocoklate, licorice and chili notes. Marcedly sweet flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, brown sugar, vanilla, figs, alcohol and again chili notes, that ends up with less sweet and with a little malt bitterness. Full bodied, oily texture and flat to soft carbonation. Enjoyable.★★★★

from Erzbierschof - pours a pitch black beer under a very shy dark beige foam; huge aroma of molasses, roasted malts, coffee, licorice and whisky; hints of vanilla; very thick and full-bodied; oily mouthfeel and hugely bitter; the finish is salty and gently metallic with more notes of whisky, coffee and prunes and a deep burning alcohol kick - a beer to sip carefully

Bottle at Craig’s alongside AB:04. Thick black pour, thin beige brown head that fades to a thin film. Vanilla, more capsicum chilli, dark milk chocolate, light smoke, soft light coffee nose. Nice sweet chocolate and mocha, light roast malts, sweet coffee, tingly booze, light roasty bitter finish. Tastes much sweeter and fresher, with more booze and harsher roast, but there’s a similar creaminess and I love the fresher chilli heat. Nice.

Bottle thanks to Søren! Pours black with a brown head. Aroma of smoke, roasted malts, vanilla, chili, sweeter liquorice, dog and chocolate. Pretty extreme. Taste of roasted malts, salmiak, burned malts, salty liquorice, weak smoke, chili, vanilla and overall spicy and slight alcoholic. Awesome actually!

Aroma: Dark intense coffee, chili pepper, burnt brown bread, vanilla fudge, brown sugar and figs and Marzipan.
Appearance: A black and brown beer, a brown head, little lacing and surprisingly few curtains.
Taste: Starting sweet, sugar, bread, vanilla, dried fruits, then a warm spicy feeling, chili and espresso, then bitter cocoa beans.
Palate: Medium carbonation, sticky and oily, a big body and an almost coarse dry finish.
Overall: Very much crammed into this one. Must be enjoyed slowly and carefully.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2012-10-22.

A very good Imperial Stout. Naga Chilli is a nice nuance with coffee and cacao. Maybe vanilla is the key to the taste which is in a good balance.
