Aroma:
Slight/medium aroma of malts, caramel, chocolate, roasted malts and coffee.

Appearance:
Opaque black beer with a small/medium dark brown head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium sweet with malts, caramel, liquorice, chocolate and vanilla; enda slightly bitter with roasted malts, coffee and peppers.

Nera con riflessi caramello e rubino, schiuma nocciola poco persistente che forma un anello in superficie lungo a ridosso della parete del bicchiere. Aroma prevalente di cioccolato, caffè, prugna, toffee, note di vaniglia, sherry, legno e peperoncino. Al palato si ripropongono con prepotenza cioccolato e caffè zuccherato, toffe, leggera prugna, finale dove permangono cioccolato e caffè con note di peperoncino e legno, peperoncino con coda lunghissima che riscalda la bevuta. Corpo pieno, non molto carbonata, texture oleosa, quasi "cicciona", ha retto decisamente bene il passare del tempo. ------ B, batch 142 imbottigliata il 17-06-13, aperta il 22-03-16. Nera con riflessi caramello, schiuma nocciola di bassa persistenza. Aroma alcolico, melassa, legno, caffè tostato e amarene sotto spirito. Al palato è splendida: amarene sotto spirito, cioccolato fondente e cacao amaro, melassa, caffè tostato e legno misto a leggero erbaceo che si alternano sul finale insieme al cioccolato. Corpo pieno, non molto carbonata, texture oleosa. ------� C, Batch 194, imbottigliata il 20/06/2014, aperta il 23/03/2016. Nera limpida con riflessi caramello, schiuma beige poco persistente. Aroma prevalente di polvere di caffè, melassa, amarene sotto spirito, note di liquirizia e di legno misto a brandy, erbaceo molto leggero. Al palato piccante (Alcool o Naga?), cioccolato fondente, melassa, brandy, note di liquirizia e di legno, caffè che permane anche nella sua coda mista a cioccolato, legno e leggero erbaceo. Corpo pieno, non molto carbonata, texture oleosa.

33cl bottle at home; as Dog C. Pitch black with a small tan head. Full body with low carbonation. Nice bitterness with subtle sweet tones. Caramel, roasted malts, coffee, ripe fruits, brown sugar, vanilla and spices. Great complex brew.

190316. Bottle at home. Pours oily black with almost no head. Aroma licorice, roasted malts, chocolate. Hints of alcohol. Strong overwhelming oily black taste. The alcohol fights to punch through. Very nice. This’ll take a while to get down.. Not Bad.

Bottle at Doghouse (entry from notes). Pours opaque black with a thin brown head, Aroma is vanilla, oak, chocolate, cocoa powder, demerara sugar. Taste is vanilla sweet, chocolate sweet, cocoa powderiness/slight bitterness, a hint of coffee and molasses. Medium-full body.

330ml bottle enjoyed @ home, Dog A batch 97 from 2012. Pours black with a small quick fading dark brown head. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, plenty of liquorice, chocolate, alcohol, vanilla, raisins, molasses and dark dried fruits. Flavour is medium to heavy sweet and medium bitter. Full bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet, vinous and warming alcohol.

Dog C, best before 20.6.2024. Aroma has vanilla, dark chocolate and coffee. Pours black with almost no head that leaves beautiful lacing. Taste has heavy sweetness and medium bitterness. A lot of coffee and dark chocolate. Roasted malts. Full bodied with almost flat carbonation. Long warm, sweet and malty finish. Excellent!

Bottle remain the last. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is strong with alcohol and chocolate and bourbon whiskey and liquorice. Taste is strong and bold, syrupy sweetness and tart tangy bitter alcohol. Thick and oily with carbonation that combines with the abv to leave your tongue humming. Very good.

330ml bottle. Dog A. Batch 097 Bottled 01-04-12. 100th Brewdog rating. Pours black with a thin brown foam head. Nose of roast malt, molasses, dark chocolate, raisins, vanilla, leather, nutty. Taste is roasted, malty, toffee, brown sugar, sweet, chocolate, coffee, earthy, warm spicy with some boozy grassy bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, warming roast bitter finish. Complex, boozy, nicely sippable.

Bottle - Dog B. Batch 142. Bottled on 17-06-2013. Pours dark black with hardly any head. Nose is coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla cream. A trouch of licorice and chili almost comes through. Taste is warm - there’s chili straight away, very little fizz, but theres a few bubbles carrying it across the tongue, with chocolate, a touch of licorice, whisky tastes. I can pull vanilla, raisins and banana out of it. There’s a little chili burn, a little alcohol burn, but it’s drinkable. Sippable actually. Some brewer has been proud to make this one. Now theres some coffee, it’s like drinking a rich irish coffee. Warm. Inviting. So embracing.
