(Batch 092.

Bottle frae Brew Dog on-line. Deep dark brown pour. Choc, chilli, vanilla, roast and booze in the snout. Complex, sweetish taste with notes of dark fruits, spice, choc, coffee and malts. Wonderfully warming like a snug alcoholic blanket. Ballsy and bloody tasty to boot.

Draught at CBC 2014 (as ’Dog B’). Pours black with a small beige head. The aroma is mostly of coffee, cocoa and chocolate. The taste is of coffee, hard roasted malt, chili, chocolate with hints of vanilla and pepper. Slightly bitter aftertaste with lots of chili. Full body with medium carbonation. Feels balanced even if there IS quite a lot of chili in it. Alcohol well hidden.

Bottle. So I’ve had this beer three times now, and have always deferred rating it because it just blows me away. I wanted to be certain it wasn’t circumstantial adoration-- meaning that I was in a particularly great mood, or I had it on a special occasion, etc. but every time I’ve had this I’m so completely impressed with the intensity of flavours, the balance, and the overall pleasure it gives me. Chocolate, coffee, pronounced toasted coconut, pecan, vanilla, late pleasant chilli warmth, no trace of alcohol whatsoever. A new top 10 for me, and a beef I hope I can continue to return to.

11.2 oz bottle from kbudd19. Pours dark brown to black in color with a small tan head. The aroma and flavor have big roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Additional lighter hot pepper with more berry like peppery notes, dark fruits, wood and vanilla round out the flavors. This is a big beer, but does not seem like 15%. I enjoyed this quite a bit.

Bottle of Dog B served in a snifter. Pours almost completely black with a very dark brown fizzy head which rapidly diminishes to a thin ring and then eventually fades to nothing. Aroma is very chocolatey with spiciness (presumably the chillies), coffee, hints of alcohol, a touch of hay and some soy. Taste starts off with lightly toasted malt and bitterness, followed by some vanilla hints, chocolate, light spiciness, liquorice, coffee and a mild sweetness, then finally followed by some pleasantly warming alcohol flavours, a light, lingering bitterness and roasted malt. Thin and slightly syrupy body with a light to medium carbonation. I particularly liked the addition of chillies in this beer.

Bottle @ Kings Day Tasting 2014 shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, small to medium sized dark brown head. Aroma is malts, sweetish, slightly a touch of hops and strongly alcohol. Taste malts, alcohol, sweetish, a hint of pepper / chili. Bitter and spicy in the finish. Too spicy / hot for my liking.
