4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle 0,33l. Pours a black colour with a deep tan head. Aroma is subtle with brandy, alcohol, dark chocolate, espresso, chilli spice and molasses. Taste of toffee backbone, supporting the spicy hop flavour, alcohol and chilli heat. The malt bill adds further spice from the rye, and a smooth refined mouthfeel from the wheat and oats.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (gift, likely from the BD online shop) drunk at home. Black with the tiniest sliver of light coming through. No head and precious little visible carbonation. Vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut, burnt toast, liquorice, woodsmoke, and alcohol. Lots and lots and lots of alcohol in the aroma. Taste is wonderful but almost too alcoholic: a bitter astringent chilli hit abated by soothing warm bittersweet chocolate. Long bittersweet finish. Intense, complex and moreish.

Aroma: Dark intense coffee, chili pepper, burnt brown bread, vanilla fudge, brown sugar and figs and Marzipan.
Appearance: A black and brown beer, a brown head, little lacing and surprisingly few curtains.
Taste: Starting sweet, sugar, bread, vanilla, dried fruits, then a warm spicy feeling, chili and espresso, then bitter cocoa beans.
Palate: Medium carbonation, sticky and oily, a big body and an almost coarse dry finish.
Overall: Very much crammed into this one. Must be enjoyed slowly and carefully.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dog C bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. An inky black beer that pours with a rapidly disappearing dark tan head. It has very rich dark chocolate, liquorice and coffee flavour, an oily mouthfeel followed by oak, vanilla, gentle warming chilli and a powerfully alcoholic smooth finish. Excellent!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle as *Dog C* picked up from the Brewdog online store, shared at home with dad Friday 7th November 2014 Another black as yer’ hat beer. But this is quite a different proposition to the others we’ve had tonight. Lots of chocolate, in fact I would go as far as saying its a bit sweet in mouth. Some chilli also noted and a lick of vanilla, not much but its there all the same. Going back to the appearance its also got a nice beige head. A little burnt bitter toffee, dark sticky fruits and bitter cocoa complete the jigsaw, good but no world beater. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Dog C, on tap in Berlin. Pours pitch black with almost no head. Aroma: freshly grounded strong coffee, licquor, raisins, licorice. Taste: super thick, liquorish (in a positive sense), coffee bitterness and hops in the finish. Palate: very pleasant warming effect. A fantastic RIS.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours pitch black with a creamy khaki head. Aroma of green chillies, chocolate sauce, mocha and vanilla. Flavours are upfront spices, green chili, lots of chocolate and rounded off with a lingering molasses sweetness. As it warms up it gets a lot sweeter. Spicy bitter finish, chili warmth lingers with the vanilla. If the sweetness was toned down a bit and the heat was a bit higher it would be perfect.

Bottle generously provided by Douglas.
A: Oily black brew with a cappuccino head that dies down. Legs.
N: Molasses, soy sauce, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, black peppercorn, peppers.
T: Spicy capsaicin, dark sweetness, and an underlying bitterness. This is extremely well balanced.
M: Treacly heavy body, just enough carbonation, and a surprisingly lack of alcohol burn. Impressive covering of the booze.
O: This is very, very good, especially for an amped up pepper beer. I would definitely purchase this is if I saw it again.
