0,33l bottle. Dog C. Batch 194, bottled on 20.6.2014. Lovely aroma of chocolate, coffee and licorice. Pitch black with brown head. Fizzy head. Oak and coffee aroma when poured. Strong hit of licorice when tasting. Lovely hidden ABV, smooth, silky mouth feel, mild and not too astringent. Leaves a coating on my teeth. This is just deep, dark and beautiful. Shame about the steep price. Low carbonation.

PunkAGM2015 rate catchup from notes. 6/6/15. At Brewdog Aberdeen. This what I should’ve followed the Mikkeller Black 2014 with! Smooth and lovely imperial stout, faint heat from the chillis otherwise coffee and chocolate. Delicious.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2015 Bottle at Bruce’s 30th celebrations, 08/02/13, big thanks to Paul for sharing this beast! Pitch black with a thin tan head. Nose carries dark roast malt, dark chocolate, molasses, peppery tones. Taste comprises dark chocolate, roast malts, pepper, booze, cocoa dusting, mineral tones, sugars. Full bodied, minimal carbonation, dry in the finish with a little sweetness. Excellent stuff! Eminently drinkable for such a high ABV Imperial Stout!

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours black with dark brown head. Nose is roasted malts, dark chocolate, light vanilla, light liquorise, light booze. Taste is quite roasty, a bit burnt, syrupy sweetness, light bourbon notes, strong coffee, cocoa, light booze. Cant really find the chili. Previous one in the series for me was Dog A few months ago (being one of the best beers Ive had) and at least my memory says it was ’clearly’ better - the bottle was few years old though. It is still delicious but a bit rough and boozy.

13.12.2014. Very intense aroma with coffee, dark chocolate and some burnt of chili. Taste is strong, has burnt of chili and taste of paprika but its subtle, mostly intense roasted malts, coffee and slight chocolate. Simply top class stuff.

Keg, Brewdog Leicester. Near black with a beige head. Aromas are coffee with peppery, marzipan alcohol and dark winter fruit. Brandy infused christmas pudding with soy sauce and raisins. Hints of smoked meat. Flavours are sweet raisins and blackberries with bittersweet coffee and dark chocolate. Very peppery, warming alcohol with hot spiciness. Underlying dark toffee with whisky barrel. Plenty of umami. Excellent.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2015 Bottle at the Brewdog AGM. It pours jet black, with a thick tan head. The nose is roasted malt, chilli pepper, caramel ,toffee, powdered cocoa, vanilla, smoke and earth. The taste is chilli (but not overdone), rich dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, toasted coconut, salted liquorice, vanilla, alcohol warmth, caramel, toffee and spice, with a sweet finish. Full body, moderate carbonation and a luxurious, slightly oily mouth-feel. Surprisingly smooth and very well balanced. There is definitely more chilli in this than AB:04, but they have managed to balance it out. A great beer. Delicious.

UPDATED: JUN 16, 2015 Re-rate Dog C from AGM 2014. Jet black, thin tan head, better carbonated than B for sure. Chilli heat builds nicely but doesn’t overpower this time, lots of dark chocolate notes too. Nice. Bottle of Dog B from Brewdog AGM 2013, shared at home. Pours jet black, but flat. No head. Fresh chilli peppers on the nose, liquorice, stone fruit. Taste of burnt sugar sweetness, then chilli burn. This just isn’t doing it for me, which is disappointing as I remember Dog A from the 2012 AGM being amazing.

Pours solid black with minimal head and no lacing. (4/5) Nose is strong roasty malt, coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, boozy dark fruit, liquorice. (9/10) Taste is strong sweet, strong bitter. (9/10) Full and slightly oily body, zero carbonation, lingering boozy finish. (5/5) Well, damn, ain’t that some shit. “Dog A,” huh? Well, y’know what they say about being on a sled team - if you’re not the lead dog, the view never changes. And this is the lead dog. A massive, beastly, sweet and bitter lead dog. Flat as a board and hot as hell. Nowhere near worth the price tag, y’understand, but still some serious shit. (18/20)
