The truth. You don’t want to hear the truth. The truth’s no longer out there bubba. Just chicken ass lies. Become a Dogma Disciple. Believe in the birds and the bees. Act crazy, be heavily armed at all times and scream in German.

Dogma is an indulgent, decadent and encapsulating scotch ale brewed with 10 different types of malt all blended together with Scottish heather honey. Soak up the sweet nectar like a jackrabbit on heat.

This beer is not cool. You may think it is, but that is just a beautiful lie fabricated by clowns and gypsies.

Bottle at a tasting at Basel Airport, December 2012. Rather opaque dark brown (do consider the poor lighting condition at the airport), tan head. Wood, espresso and a little bit of acetone aroma, tastes bitter, a little sweet and woody, roasty, malty sourness and coffee. Sandy texture, full body and floral aftertaste.

Bottle (330 ml). Traded by SlovakSniper, thanks Patrick! Molasse color with a small beige head and some lacing. Aroma of caramel, honey, roasted malt and molasses. Taste is sweet with caramel, honey, molasses, maple, nuts and a slight bitter finish. Mouthfeel is almost syrupy. Medium body. Average complexity. Good Scotch Ale. Good use of the honey, it enhance the beer. A tad too sugary, even for a Scotch Ale. Some similitudes with Le Bilboquet Mackroken Flower.

Bottle - 330ml. Dark brown body with a thin beige foamy head. Strong, complex malty/hoppy aroma with honeyish, spicy, and fruity hints. Its robust malty/hoppy taste carries toffee, oaky, and caramel notes. Ends with a long warming bittersweet finish. Very enjoyable Scotch Ale.

Une bouteille de 33 cl. Batch 166.

0.33l bottle from #048 (I don’t understand the batch system Brewdog is operating with) This is a clear deep brown one with a really good looking big and lasting strong espresso-colored head. The aroma is sweet and vanilla-woody with dark fruits, black honey, sticky super-sweet caramel and some sharp spices. It both smells and looks really really good, so let’s hope it taste the same: oh yeah. It’s average carbonated and has a really creamy and cloudy texture in the mouth. Flavors are influenced with espresso-caramel, woody dry and dark chocolate, vanilla, dark honey, roasted malts and a soft mild acidity all the way in the background with a perfectly suiting little hint of alcohol in the finish and aftertaste. I’m sold! This was a really good one! 06.07.2012
