The truth. You don’t want to hear the truth. The truth’s no longer out there bubba. Just chicken ass lies. Become a Dogma Disciple. Believe in the birds and the bees. Act crazy, be heavily armed at all times and scream in German.

Dogma is an indulgent, decadent and encapsulating scotch ale brewed with 10 different types of malt all blended together with Scottish heather honey. Soak up the sweet nectar like a jackrabbit on heat.

This beer is not cool. You may think it is, but that is just a beautiful lie fabricated by clowns and gypsies.

Dark brown/mahogany colour, beige and shortlasting head, little traces of lace, medium to low carbonation. The aroma is sweet liquorice, plums, roasted malts, raisins and rhum. Very sweet, with very hidden hops, tastes like liquor, honey, burnt sugar and hints of coffee. Great overall, though slightly unbalanced. Very tasty, liked a lot.

It pours dark, but not black. It has a solid brown head. There are aromas of toffee and roasted malts. It is lively with the carbonation with roasted flavors, bread, and toffee flavors. It is a bit bitter on the palate.

33cl bottle. Deep brown colour with a thin tan head. Honey, toffee, raisins, caramel and nuts in the aroma. Soft carbonation and medium body. Taste is more on the sweet side, but quite complex. Overall, a very good beer.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown to black colour with a thin beige head. Aroma of honey, chocolate, toffee, roasted nuts plus dark fruits like prune and raisin. Taste of chocolate, prune, honey, burnt caramel, roasted nuts and some liquorice. Medium bodied, rich and soft carbonation. A sweet, warming, liquoricey finish. A really good beer, as I expect from Brewdog. Sweet and malty then spicy and bitter.

My first scotch ale so no point of comparison. Aroma of dark honey, nuts, licorice. Very siruppy. Sweet but not cloying at all. Dry. Good one.

Decent Scotch ale. Nothing great here. Aroma was alright. Strong malty character with not much else. Pour was a dark brown with an amber hue on the sides with no head. Taste was alright. Strong rich and malty, with roasted caramel, honey and and a slight note of vanilla. Medium carbonation.Very wet and sticky finish.

Pours a dark cola colour, with a thin, fast dissipating, off white head. The beer smells of subtle honey and caramel with a ever so slight hint of spice. This beer is so damn malty, as you drink it feels like a new layer of malt is revealed. I can taste the honey, as well as a biscuit flavour in combination with molasses and leather. The mouth feel is pretty special, lots of layers and a long, lingering malt presence. Perfect carbonation for the style - the lack of back end agression allows a nightcap sensibility to shine through.

On the lighter side of the Scotch Ale spectrum, this subtle complex and rather delicious beer almost seemslike a different style of beer. Sweet yet perfectly balanced and integrated with the help of the heather. Soothing and civilised.
