The truth. You don’t want to hear the truth. The truth’s no longer out there bubba. Just chicken ass lies. Become a Dogma Disciple. Believe in the birds and the bees. Act crazy, be heavily armed at all times and scream in German.

Dogma is an indulgent, decadent and encapsulating scotch ale brewed with 10 different types of malt all blended together with Scottish heather honey. Soak up the sweet nectar like a jackrabbit on heat.

This beer is not cool. You may think it is, but that is just a beautiful lie fabricated by clowns and gypsies.

Aroma: honey, caramel, chocolate; Appearance: pale ruby-black, small foamy head; Taste: heavy sweetness, medium bitterness, medium sourness; Palate: soft carbonation, full body, slick texture, long finish Complex and delightful hybrid of ale and stout, a pinch of turf and smoke mixing with many red fruits and dry plums. Some butter. An experience.

Pours a dark brown. Aroma and taste are toffee, bready malts, and some vanilla.

7.4% ABV. Scotch Ale. No head will stand in 7.4%. Sweet, malty, almost soy nose. Reminiscent of the Tactical Nuclear Penguin. Salt-water taffy. Roasted sweet dates. My brain is already thinking strong porter or Imperial Stout. That first mouthful confirms my initial suspicions on sniffing this thing had the same mother as the Tactical Nuclear Penguin. Same lightly carbonated, full body contact experience. Not that you ever would, but like taking a mouthful of soy. After a mouthful of Dogma, you won’t need to wonder what that’s like. Has a herbaceous opening, almost vegetal. Then broadens into a shallow palate full of Chinese sour plums and licorice root. The finish is dry full of dried apricots. Quite pleasing for a porter.

The body has a reddish orange amber color with a slight haze. From the aggressive pour I got just a small soapy head. This head fades quickly leaving just a thin lacing on top. Its aroma is very sweet and fruity with little citrus and herbal hops in the background. The flavor has a big juicy fruity character with sweet and tart ruby red grapefruit notes over a light/thin malt base. Its finish brings a little spice and some herbal hop notes with a firm bit of hop bitterness. The palate has a light to medium feel with light fuzzy carbonation.

Bottle, 33cL. @Palais de la bière, Poitiers, France. A pitch black beer with a medium beige head; poor retention. Aroma of caramel, licorice, prune, herbs, roast, spices. Medium sugary sweetness balanced with light lasting bitterness. Medium body, silky thin texture, average carbonation, sweet finish, warming background. Overall, delicious aroma (licorice, prune), pleasant mouthfeel : I liked it !

BOTTLE 33 CL. Look: clear and deep dark mahogany, beige frothy to creamy head. Aroma: really rich dark bread notes, rich malts, some red wine notes, fruity. Taste: it is certainly on the sweet side but far from being cloying. The dominant character is dar toasted bread, balanced by light spicy hops, Creamy silky smooth body, just a touch of alcohol.

Intense, brown bread aroma. Dark brown cloudy, white head. Medium sweetness, little bitter, umani taste. Something unpleasent about palate but can’t really think what.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Small off white head, good lacing. Very dark body, hints of ruby brown at the edges. Nose is sweet and nutty, honey. Flavour is roasted nuts, malty sweetness, nice honey finish. Earthy aftertaste. Good thick mouthfeel, a bit syrupy, very little carbonation. Good scotch ale.
