3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Seriously dark with a honeycomb coloured head. There is a note of honey initially, but it isn’t light, fragrant manuka honey, it is honey in a rich sherry dosed treacle cake. In the mouth there is a good flush of carbonation and then big cake, treacle and molasses in the mouth. I wasn’t expecting it to be so rich, but it is. It is rich, oily beer similar to Old Engine Oil from Harviestoun.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle at home. dark brown color, tan head. smell of whiskey, coffee, dark chocolate, dried fruits like figs, some malty sweetness on the smell. full body, oily texture, taste of brown sugar, malty sweetness, whisky, roastiness, dried fruits, figs, light roasty bitterness before the finish, coffee sweet finish, finish has an liqueurish feel. Liked it a lot at first, but if you drink more the sweetness gets too overpowering.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Brewdog.
Pours dark brown with a single finger off white head. Aroma of malts, caramel, toffee, some sweetness too. Taste is very strong on the malts, much the same as the aroma, the sweetness I would say perhaps honey?
Low carbonation and it really does stick to the tongue. Nice

Pours black, with thin tan head. Aromas of malt, sweet burnt sugar, treacle, caramel. Sticky in the mouth. Very sweet taste of malts, treacle, honey. Light carbonation and a mild alcohol warmth on the finish.
Very sweet, sticky beer. Maybe too much for my tastes.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 330ml bottle on 15/2/2105 Shared with Butz). Pours a very dark brown with a small to medium head. Has a very malty aroma featuring brown sugar, caramel and toffee. In the mouth, it’s not surprisingly malt driven - more brown sugar, caramel and toffee, some butterscotch, and a touch of honey (which is not that pronounced). Features a moderate bitterness, a sticky palate and lowish carbonation. A very nice sweet scotch ale which needs to warm to be fully appreciated.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Good Dog. Nearly black pour but shows as a clear orange copper under bright light. Slim foamy tan ring. Metallic dark fruit. Prunes. Concord raisins. Browned celery. Peat. Blackberries. Sweet molasses malts. Slightly tangy fruit. Some roasted nuttiness. Ascetic nose. Nice broad palate but missing several deeper stout notes (leather, cigarettes, charcoal) that would make this beer extraordinary.
