RichardW (237), Carlisle, Cumbria, England Sep 27, 2009 Cask, Tynemouth BF. This is the dry hopped version and man, was it hoppy! Dark and flavoursome, bitter and tangy. I love drinking beers of around this ABV and love the fact that they can pack in so much flavour and yet be kind to the head and lover. A belter..... ChristianScheffel (4402), Odense, Denmark Sep 26, 2009 Handbottle with huge thanks to Craig. Can’t wait to throw down a handful of pints of it on cask. My most wanted beer for a while!
Deep chestnut brown with a small off-white head. Rich fruity aroma plum and raisin, with chocolate and biscuit. Dry, yet rich, dark malty flavour, with complex fruits and roasted notes. Firm hop bitterness with hints of grassy flavours too. Long lasting roasted and bitter finish. A world class masterpiece at this ABV. bobinlondon (786), Harrow, Greater London, England Sep 22, 2009 Cask at the Rake. Dark chestnut with a beige head. Dry and slightly smokey malt profile with a slight caramel bitterness. Hops are there more in aroma than flavour. Full of flavour for it’s low strength. imdownthepub (5084), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Sep 18, 2009 Cask conditioned at York Beer Fest ’09. Chestnut with white head. BrewDog must be doing something right, this managed to be clear & bright when so many others were dull and clouded at this Festival. Dry and hoppy mild, not what we would call a mild, but there is a smokey nuttiness with dark roast qualities. Very good and for the ABV, amazing. maeib (4672), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England Sep 13, 2009 Cask conditioned Handpump The Rake Borough Market. A black beer with a whitish head. Nicely hoppy in the nose with roasted malt character. It’s the same in the mouth. very much a new wave hoppy mild a la Dark Star Over The Moon, and whereas this hasn’t quite got the excellent hoppiness of that beer it must be remembered that this is just 2.7% ABV. It’s a majestically flavoursome beer for its strength and would be so very easy to session on. DJMonarch (5966), Northwich, Cheshire, England Jul 31, 2009 Cask Handpump at the Crown Inn, Stockport 12/04/2008
Fruit and roast aromas. Dark coloured a little rich on the palate and fruity with a crisp and slightly bitter lasting dry roast finish. chriso (4665), London, Greater London, England Mar 27, 2009 Cask (gravity dispense) at Reading Beer Festival, May 2008. Dark chestnut colour. Roasty and a little smoky. Very dry mouthfeel. Plenty of body for 2.7% albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Mar 20, 2009 Cask at the Canalhouse. This is an amazing beer for its strength. It’s fruity as you’d expect from a mild but with a lasting and profound dry bitter finish. It is neither watery nor weak in flavour; this is the ultimate session beer. They really are alchemists at Brewdog.
