3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 AshtonMcCobb (1446) - Edinburgh, - AUG 31, 201233cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours amber with gentle bubbles and a slim head. The nose has honey, green dry herbs, maybe mint or rosemary and spice, perhaps woodspice such as cinnamon or nutmeg. The taste has more of the honey and woodspices coming through rather than the herbs. The palate is medium bodied with a light to medium texture and a clean finish despite the sweetness. Overall, some of the notes reminded me of a beer I had that had spruce in it -

0,33 bottle kvadrat. Pours cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma is soapy and ginger, spiced and herbal. Spiced, ginger, citric, bite and soapy. Something that reminds me of a bitter licour in the end there. Prob my taste buds but this is not my thing. But a interesting, complex taste it is.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 berlinoise2go (477) - NORWAY - MAY 10, 2013
Bottle (33cl) from Vinmonopolet (Storo), Oslo. Clear amber/copper colour. Half-inch offwhite head, good retention. Spicy/herbal aroma with cloves, crowberry, licorice root, menthol, cookies. Medium body, soft carbonation, slight mouth-cleansing sensation. Semi-sweet herbal taste with mild bitterness and some acidity. Herbal-bitter aftertaste. I was underwhelmed initially (expecting some IPA likeness), but when forgetting that, this is somewhat of a grower.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 sebletitje (5416) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAY 6, 2013
Bouteille 33cl, batch#164, BB 23/05/2013.

[330ml bottle from Utobeer, London] Pours orangey-amber with a moderate off-white head and middling carbonation. At first it’s too sweet; I’m not used to unhopped beers! But then herbal tomes begin to emerge - thyme, especially, and maybe some myrtle - followed by summer fruits (strawberries) and something deeper and darker, probably juniper. There’s some ginger too, and loads of other herbs and frutis swirling about on the tip of the tongue. At times there’s a touch of helth tonic about it, but then another different flavour pops out to surprise you. It’s incredibly complex - I felt that I could have done with more than 330ml to fully work it out. Well done Brewdog for making something so challenging and so interesting!
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 ShaneJ (83) - AUSTRALIA - APR 23, 2013
Bottle from Slowbeer. Deep copper, juniper berries, cinnamon, , lavender, pot pourri, taste is slightly sweet. Not great, but I think they just win the International Arms Race from Flying Dog.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 Otterdance (34) - - APR 21, 2013
Bottle. Clear copper, slightly luminous with a thin white head. Herbal aroma, like a damp poo-pourri left under the Christmas tree. Tastes almost medicinal - thyme, rose and some citrus. Soft and oily. Interesting - like something found in a Victorian curiosity shop.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 bhensonb (8985) - Woodland, California, USA - APR 21, 2013
Bottle from the Utobeer stall in Borough Market. Pours amber with a slight white head. Aroma is medicinal. Med body. Flavor is either wood twigs or medicinal or both. Not particularly pleasant.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 jmgreenuk (1278) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - APR 19, 2013
Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark caramel colour with a bubbly, off-white head. The aroma is a little dry and malty. The flavour is plain, wih some resin and slightly medicinal. An interesting experiment that didn’t work. An IPA without hops is not an IPA. No real flavour, no body, not very exciting at all and hardly refreshing. Needs to be served cool to get anything from it.
