4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 jonttix (42) - -, SWEDEN - OCT 30, 2011
Sånt här som gör ölintresset! Testades på Brewdog´s Beermakers Dinner på Sorbon (Brommaplan). Helt grym i både doft och smak. Mycket söt!
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 VsXsV (464) - Linköping, SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2011
Sample from draught at SBWF 2011. Hazy, dark amber liquid with small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, oak, vanilla, fruit and lots of other malty, toasty and biscuity notes. Very intense and quite boozy aroma. Taste is highly sweet, light to medium bitter and on the first sip very boozy. Becomes more enjoyable as you get used to the booziness. Malty flavour. Full bodied with low carbonation and sticky mouthfeel. I wrote "boozy as f*ck", but that was the first impression. Still, it warms up your face and burns quite a bit. Well, I’m not totally convinced. Would benefit from much longer aging. Compared to Utopias this is a lot less refined and more boozy. Cool experiment but nothing I would buy again and honestly I didn’t really enjoy it after the first 2-3 centilitres. Nice aroma though.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Koyo (249) - SWEDEN - OCT 9, 2011
Sample at Stockholm Beer and Whiskey Festival 2011, poured by Mr. Watts himself. Aroma has loads of caramel and vanilla, very, very intense aroma. It pours a dark amber with almost no foam. Taste is sweet, vanilla, toffee, caramel, also very intense and rich. Burns a little as it goes down, not surprising considering the 28% ABV and feels thick and oily on the palate. Quite the experience!
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 TheJestersBeer (802) - SWEDEN - OCT 8, 2011
Keg poured through the reindeer head, yada, yada...
Anyway, iy pours a deep amber with no head whatsoever.
The aroma is very complex, lots of malt, wood, vanilla, nuts, marzipan, dried fruits, figs, madeira wine.
Off-dry, full bodied, medium bitterness, no CO2, very potent alcohol.
Intense taste, fruity, woody, vanilla, spicy, dried fruit, malt, nuts, marzipan. (2011-10-08)
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Mad_Ferret (483) - SWEDEN - OCT 7, 2011
Tap @ SB&WF 2011.
Unclear golden amber with no head. Thick and syrupy.
Wonderful whisky like aroma with toffee and caramel and smooth oak notes with a hint of fruitiness in the back.
Taste is sweet with lots of boozy warmth. Notes as in the aroma with more fruity notes coming in the aftertaste. Syrupy slick mouthfeel with no carbonation.
Good!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dantheman278 (975) - SCOTLAND - SEP 7, 2011
Deer head at BrewDog. Amber orange, no head at all. Massive boozey honey vanilla nose. Oily, fig, date, whisky vanilla palate. Kick in the face booze finish. Mega-intense, I literally can’t decide if it’s great or horrendous.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 cgarvieuk (8640) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 7, 2011
Keg in Brewdog bar ... light hazy amber ... sweet spirit ... dates and figs nose ... big open spirit... its got lots of spirit tones ... a huge amount of spirit tone ... whisky with water ...that way a whisky open up with water ... big honey tones ... soft fruits ... tiny hint aniseed ... stella says she was getting sherry linger tones ... quite complex ... but reminds me too much of a whisky.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Benjii (2395) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - SEP 7, 2011
Keg served from a mounted deers head at the BrewDog Bar, Edinburgh. Pours a dark golden colour with no head. Aroma of dates, honey and raisins. Flavours of raisins, mead-like honey, rum, sherry, whiskey and plenty of alcohol. Some chewy caramel also with an oily mouth-feel. A little thin with sweet sherry alcoholic linger. OK but not in the same league as the Tactical Nuclear Penguin or Sink The Bismark.
