Bottle. Batch #261 BBD 20/09/10. A medium golden color with minimal head. It seemed a little flat. A syrupy sweet aroma dripping with pine and hops. A sharp bitter bite.

White head that quickly dissipates. Really nice dark amber color. Well balanced hop and malt palate; dry finish. The 9% ABV is masked pretty well but nowhere near as tasty as their Punk IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Forth beer in my Brewdog reviewing evening, best before 15 Jul 2010, poured into my huge ’Judas’ glass 26 Nov 2009. Dull orange/tangarine coloured body, white head. Expected more of a hop aroma, it gave off an all spice smell, some sweeter toffee smells with hops hanging around in the background. An almost ginger style hotness hit my throat at first, but it wasn’t ginger, just a bitter harshness from the hops that I wasn’t ready for. Reasonably dry feel to the beer, especially in the aftertaste, some citrusy lemonlike sourness also could be detected. None of the toffee sweetness found in the smell made its way into the taste. The 9%ABV only hit towards the end of each sip, it being hidden by the hop content of the brew. All in all, not bad.

Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 23, 2012
Bottle, originally from Brewdog online. It pours orange-amber, with a small white head. The nose is pine, resin, grapefruit, floral, alcohol and a touch of caramel/toffee. The taste is pine, resin, floral, citrus, toffee, butterscotch, obvious alcohol, with a long rough bitter-sweet finish. Medium body, medium carbonation and oily mouth-feel. I always found this one quite a bit rougher, too sweet and less balanced than its newer and (in my opinion) better "9.2%" version.

330ml bottle pours a cloudy golden color with a small white head that settles down and leaves a thin spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is cereal grains with some citrusy hops and a little smoke. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with some citrus and earthy hop bitterness and a bit of smoke and alcohol. Medium bodied with little carbonation. An interesting DIPA which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Hardcore pours a hazy light colored orange. Barely any head at all is poured and what is poured quickly fizzes away and leaves a slight lacing around the glass. Now what I liked about this DIPA was the different smells and taste I got out of it. It has some stuff in it that you don’t usually get in a lot of normal DIPAs and maybe that’s why it got such a low score. The aroma of course has a nice dose of hops. Both citrus and piney. The malt is nicely balanced with the hops. Earthy. It also has what I don’t find in a lot of DIPAs. A nice kick of spice. Thrown in there is a nice slight aroma of melon. Definitely a different smell. The taste on this one is more of the same for the most part. But the taste definitely had more of a sweetness to it. Like a Candi sugar taste. Citrus and piney hops are there as well as the spice and earthiness from the malt but what I picked up in the taste that I didn’t pick up in the smell was something like a tobacco taste. Not huge at all but it was there. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but chewy and sticky on the palette. A nice bitterness lingers on the tongue.

Deep amber, almost reddish-brown silky pour with a thin off-white head and decent lacing. Lots of citrus fruit on the nose, caramel, malt and hops. Slight smoke comes through. Medium carbonation and bitter initially. Fruit, sweet caramel and banana notes comes through. Nice IPA but not surprising from BrewDog. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
