4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark amber colour with a white lasting head. Really fresh aroma of citrus fruits, grapefruit, pine, apricot and orange peel. Taste starts with a honey sweetness that quickly turns into full on hop bitterness with lots of tropical fruit notes. Some maleness comes through then returns back to the hoppy bitterness and pinecone flavours. Top notch!

4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Birra stupenda!!!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Poured fiery medium orange with a creamy, well-retained beige head. The aroma picked up juicy grapefruit, pine, and a touch of vanilla over soft bready and caramel malts.. peppery warmth on the back of the nose.. well-balanced. The flavor found orange zest, black pepper, and pine bitterness over crusty bread and biscuity malts.. tacky and a little too spicy on the finish.. still tasty. Heavier-bodied with lots of carbonation on the palate.. warm and satisfying.. very good brew.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy copper colour which is much darker than the punk. A very strong citrusy hop smell dominates the nose which increases the anticipation to taste this beer. The first sip may be a bit of a letdown, but give it time and the caramel will take over. It is still very bitter as an IPA should be, but offers more intriguing flavours than the punk. Both very enjoyable beers but this one takes it by a nose.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Copper body, small head. Sweet aroma of hops, pine and hay. At first the taste is sweet and caramelly, then comes the big hop bitterness. Very good when cold, but becomes a bit cloying when it warms up.

2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Pours a muddy brown with minimal head. The scent is of bread and some hoppy undertones. This one was not to my liking.. too much of a barleywine sweetness with an abundence of bitterness. I did not enjoy this brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottled, rated 2011-07-24) Hazy copper with a medium, firm head. Freshly hoppy, resiny pinewood, and some exotic fruit in the nose. Resiny-pinewoody and quite bitter flavor, balanced nicely with caramely maltiness. Alcohol quite well hidden. Quite full body with some acidity and medium CO2. A positive surprise from a brewery that I thought had lost its track completely after the excellent Paradox series. Could use more fruitiness, though, and seems best straight from the fridge.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from El Irlandés. Batch #081. This IIPA appears in the glass with a cloudy bronze to light copper color and a nice espresso like head that laces finely. Aromas flow with enormous amounts of hops giving way to notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, lemongrass and rhubarb. This is a powerful and fresh hop perfume. When it gets warmer you can feel some strong toffee malt backbone. Taste is also tremendously generous in hops: Very bitter grassy and citrusy notes of grapefruit, lemongrass, lime, cannabis, malt grains, pistachios and pomegranate. It shows an explosion of well crafted bitterness and intensity backed by solid malt. This Imperial IPA is almost full bodied with lingering finish and a marvelous aftertaste. The alcohol is well disguised and bitterness can be felt even in the lips minutes after you drank the last sip. Seafood would be the perfect pairing. I would say this is in the same league as Three Floyds Dreadnaught. Fantastically crafted Imperial India Pale Ale! Kudos to BrewDog!
