This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic. 4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more. 9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks. 2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

On tap. Pours a pale hazy orange body, with an average white head that stays until I finish my glass. Very floral and tropical aroma. Heavy bitter taste on this one, blown away, a little harsh though. Medium carbonated, oily texture, medium bodied. A nice treat for sure, if not a little harsh on the flavour.

Quite sweet initially from the caramel malts followed by a good bitter orange/citrus base of hops. Overall very smooth. Very good but I think I prefer their single IPA (such as Dead Pony Club) as the citrusy hops come through more strongly.

330ml bottle. Aroma is hops, light citrus, orange, pineapple. Appearance is dark amber, light milky, very fine light brownish head. Taste is bitter, sweet. A very fine dryness, full body and a very long mouth feel. perfect IPA.

Amber color, small white head. In aroma you get what you expect - lots of hops and also some citrus hints. Taste is superb - IBU150 is there ;) Slightly sweet in between first emotion and aftertaste, but ends up with dry mouth and more bitter ....

Classic of Imperial IPA doesn’t disappoint, but it is not perfect. Nice head and lacing. Very strong aroma of citrus, lots of mango, litchi and mandarin. Taste is firstly sweet with full of citrus fruitiness and caramel malt, after that appears very strong bitterness, but a little bit to harsh. It makes the finish is unpleasant.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2014 Pours clear, intense copper reddish with beige thick foam, interesting yeasty lasing. Aroma - intense pine, citrus hops, malty caramel, candies, very pleasant. Taste - medium plus malt sweet with average plus bitter from hoping. But this one is wonderful brew anyway. Palate - astringent mouthfeel, above medium bodied, average carbonation, thick-slick texture, dry finish, long one with nice heavily bitter aftertaste. Indeed D/I IPA. Very intense flavor so this is sipping brew not drinking. Long finish, even after few hours flavor didn’t dwindle. Wow.
update:18.01.2014.
Don’t now what happened but this time bottle was so un-intense in flavor, yes it was still tasty but there was no wow moment, weird maybe I become more old and gloomy. Or maybe Brew Dog starts to brew mass production patterns.

Topper

11.2oz bottle served in a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass. Best before: 20-8-13 A - Pours a dark hazy copper with a frothy tan head. Nice retention and lacing. S - Citrus, grapefruit, lemon, baked bread, caramel, toffee. T - Bittersweet grapefruit, sweet toffee and toasted caramel malts, herbal, pine, and peppery hops. There’s a tangy earthy quality that rides along the moderate bitterness. The sweet caramel malt push back against the onslaught of hops to provide pretty good balance. M - Full bodied, light to medium carbonation, sticky. A nice example of the style. Not as bitter as I thought i would be but very full flavored and surprisingly balanced. Bottled. Slightly hazy, ruby-amber colour with a minimal off-white head. Hoppy pine aroma with a bit less citrus and more malt than its Punk little brother. A touch of bubblegum too. Syrup-thick in the mouth with a bubblegum sweetness to start, moving to yeasty/bready flavours, then a dry finish. Really good balance of flavours and mouthfeel. Excellent.

Bottle at home. Pours hazzy orange/blond. Aroma is fresh hops, citrus, grapefruit, caramel, and sweet sugar. Taste comes with a huge bitterness with citrus and grapefruit and the sweet taste of caramel. Balanced beer but the punk ipa is a bit better
