This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But donít feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic. 4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more. 9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks. 2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

22.4oz bottle, shared with friends. Best by 4/20/13. Batch 122. Mostly hazy amber orange color, on the darker side. Thin khaki head, little to no lace. Hops, some light pine and grapefruit... Flavor is kind of mild for a 9.2% DIPA. Definitely malt - forward. Bitter taste, just a hint of alcohol. Little zest, light sweet. Medium to bigger body, light crisp carbonation, more dry texture. Not my favorite DIPA, I was expecting more out of this.

0.33l bottle from #261. This is a crystal clear champagne-brown one with a medium sized light beige top. Fruity and hoppy on the nose with a grassy bitterness, some sweet sticky caramel and tones of woodwork - like in sawdust. Nice stuff. Itís powerful and bitter in taste. Tons of hops, somewhat resinous and almost slightly astringent. Caramel with sour ripe strawberries and canned peaches. Ends with only subtle and suiting traces of well masked alcohol and an almost drymouthing bitter and grassy aftertaste. Strong and powerful, yet quite round and definitely not to much. 01.11.2012

0.33l bottle ,batch #120, from BrewDog webshop. Finally my turn to try this! It pours a cloudy copper-brown body with a nice creamy and lasting light beige head thatís lacing nicely down the glass. Aroma is as expected; lots of hops, fruity hops that is, sweet caramel, nuts some ripe melon zest with hints of wood and chocolate. Really nice! It has a nice and mouth-lubricating oily mouthfeel, average carbonated and quite full-bodied. Tastes sharp and well hoped! Light fruity (not so much as in the aroma), lots of pine, caramel with some hints of dry wood and the whole thing finishes warming and dry with some sweet alcohol and a everlasting hopy and bitter aftertaste. A real hardcore DIPA from the Scotís indeed! Ha! I can see not that annoying little flie that has been annoying me all night has climbed in to the empty glass, probably had a sip and dropped stone dead! Thankís BrewDog!
