4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottled, rated 2011-07-24) Hazy copper with a medium, firm head. Freshly hoppy, resiny pinewood, and some exotic fruit in the nose. Resiny-pinewoody and quite bitter flavor, balanced nicely with caramely maltiness. Alcohol quite well hidden. Quite full body with some acidity and medium CO2. A positive surprise from a brewery that I thought had lost its track completely after the excellent Paradox series. Could use more fruitiness, though, and seems best straight from the fridge.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from El Irlandés. Batch #081. This IIPA appears in the glass with a cloudy bronze to light copper color and a nice espresso like head that laces finely. Aromas flow with enormous amounts of hops giving way to notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, lemongrass and rhubarb. This is a powerful and fresh hop perfume. When it gets warmer you can feel some strong toffee malt backbone. Taste is also tremendously generous in hops: Very bitter grassy and citrusy notes of grapefruit, lemongrass, lime, cannabis, malt grains, pistachios and pomegranate. It shows an explosion of well crafted bitterness and intensity backed by solid malt. This Imperial IPA is almost full bodied with lingering finish and a marvelous aftertaste. The alcohol is well disguised and bitterness can be felt even in the lips minutes after you drank the last sip. Seafood would be the perfect pairing. I would say this is in the same league as Three Floyds Dreadnaught. Fantastically crafted Imperial India Pale Ale! Kudos to BrewDog!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a deep amber / copper with a thin white head. Medium carbonation. Pine resin aromas with a hint of grapefruit. Slight oily on the palate but soft with it. Biscuit, pine, resin, oily grapefruit and a slight orange peel bitterness. Biscuit taste remains with that oily almost metallic bitterness on the roof of my mouth and the middle of my tongue.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Didn’t get to try this in a glass so can’t say about appearance but loved the aroma, you can almost taste the toffee before it hits your tongue. I love sweet ales that get it right and this one is awesome. Lovely aftertaste and very slick going down.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma mediamente fruttato. Alla vista si presenta di un color ambrato con una schiuma corposa e abbondante all’inizio, ma che va sfumando velocemente. Gusto "pesante" in tutti i sensi. L’alcohol si sente nel gusto fin troppo.
Questa birra mi ha deluso parecchio.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours with a medium-sized creamy head. Orange-red clear colour. Aroma of hops, citrus fruits, caramel, floral notes. Initial mouthfeel is very neutral, after the last drop is gone through your throat the brutal bitterness kicks in from the back of your mouth to paralyze you completely, and the sensation slowly vanishes into a lasting bitter-sweet finish. All the time no hint of alcohol in neither aroma nor taste. After the bottle is gone it leaves you wanting more.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I absolutely adore this ale! 330ml bottle. Pours an deep orangey hazed amber with a nice stable off-white head. All kinds of hoppy scents here, grapefruits, mangos, zests, refresher sweets, toffee. Packed with flavours. It’s bitter, but not too much. More tart, with a sweetness. Doesn’t overpower when you’re eating alongside which is nice. It’s a little bit crazy, but it’s still cracking. Cheers!
