This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic. 4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more. 9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks. 2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

Gently seething hop nose with notes of candy, grapefruit and mango. Pours a lovely deep gold/amber with a fluffy head. Flavour is puckeringly thick with hops but, strangely, in a gently subtle way. Balance may be the key to this excellent DIPA, as it has that in spades. Finish is dry but not astringent and ends with rich chewy malts dancing off into the sunset with zingy tropical hops. Excellent. Really, really good.

Bottle at home. Title says it all, a hardcore version of there Punk IPA. Somehow I like the Punk better then the Hardcore. But still very nice! Very very hoppy!

Awesome strong IPA, higher hop bitterness. Dark copper color. Full body and great hoppy finish.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet, Norway. Pours a hazy and dark amber colour with a thin head that disappears quickly. Good and strong aroma of citrus fruits, grapefruit and hops. Medium mouthfeel. Flavour of grapefruit and bitter hops, very bitter in fact. The aftertaste is incredibly dry and bitter. A bit too harsh at first, but it warms up after a while. Not bad, but I’ve tasted better strong IPA’s.

Pours a deep amber with little to no white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, and alcohol. This is a meaty DIPA. Alot of big hop bitterness and a rather crisp finish. Big time legs running down the glass. Overall this is a very solid DIPA, and one I would definitely try again, but it’s not really separating itself from other elite DIPA’s I’ve had.

Strong hoppy aroma, followed by a disappointingly bland taste The smell promises so much, which the flavour doesn’t fulfil. Not bad tasting, but leaves you wondering where all those hops went?

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2014

Oct 2012 Bottle. As expected from an american style IPA, marked bitterness and grapefruit. However, this isn’t a balanced example of the type. Flavour of grapefruit too concentrated, too sharp. (2.9)

Nov 2012 - Another bottle. Better but still pretty boring flavours and too sharp and alcoholic. Not good. (3.0)

Jan 2013 – Yet another bottle. Parma violets, floral, bitter of course. Bit of sweetness to finish. Overall, not great.(2.9)

June 2014 – I thought I’d give it one last chance to impress. Keg at Brewdog. Dark orange, clear, still, big foamy white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel and alcohol. Body is medium to light, slightly foamy in the mouth. Taste is light with some straw and noticeable alcohol. (3.3)
