This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic. 4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more. 9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks. 2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

Pours a golden red clear with a nice head and bright aroma. I instantly concur that the 9.2 ABV is very well hidden, very nice indeed. A little heavy on the palette but expected and welcome. This is strangely similar to the Whole Hog Six Hop IPA by Stevens Point Brewery, in fact...it’s very similar—which is a good thing. I like this, pour me another.

Batch 289 Bottle: Deep orange/amber with a huge, foamy tan head. Aroma odf sweet caramel, piney hops. Taste is fruity, toffee, resiny...slight alcohol.... Very good. Not as intensely bitter as expected.

This is pretty good stuff. A hefty, strong IPA with the power of the crazy Scotsmen.

Pours a deep copper with a medium white head. Aromas are citrus, resin, caramel and armoatic hops. Like most of Brewdog beer, this Hardcore IPA is greatly balanced. Some hint of sweetness (reminding caramel or exotic fruits) and long and dry bitter finish. Complex aromas and great beer !

Single bottle. Pours a rich, dark copper. Very little head; mostly dissipating. Moderate lacing, active carbonation. Nose is grassy with some malt. Nice and bitter, though the hops come across as "mashed." Warm, boozy finish. Extremely drinkable, especially considering the abv.

UPDATED: MAR 13, 2015 Hazy amber colour, relatively small head. Strong hoppy aroma, interesting! This beer delivers exactly what it promises, hardcore hoppyness, bitter taste, sweet caramel malts and rich texture. Leaves this harsh bitterness to ones mouth but after few minutes you keep on longing for more. Excellent imperial IPA.

Pours hazy re orange with a white head. Aroma is earthy with slight citrus, a lot of caramel and toffee. Taste follows nose.

Tap @Håndverkerstuene, Oslo. Pours a murky yellow ocher with a decent off white head. The aroma is fresh with citrus, hops and a nice touch of sweet honey. The taste is very similar to the aroma, kicks off with the hops and citrus, then the sweetness of malts and honey takes charge, before you get a very nice balanced hoppy aftertaste - very well balanced. You can hardy notice the quite high level of alcohol, not until you get up to leave anyway. It has a very smooth and thick mouth feel, and pleasant carbonation. Wouldn’t mind having a go at this again.

Available from Tesco’s finest range as ’American Double IPA’ (£1.99 or 3 for £5). American style IPA’s are quite hard to find in the UK, but this is a prime example of a top quality, strong, bitter, hoppy IPA. It has strong notes of tangerine, pineapple, lavender, honey and hops. It has a strong bitter finish. It is a hazy dark amber colour, with nice gentle carbonation and quite a thick syrupy mouthfeel. This is one of my favourites!
