This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell.
2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic.
4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more.
9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks.
2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

Pours a hazy orange. Big white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma is cloyingly sweet caramel and mild notes of grapefruit and pine. Flavor is similar. Slightly sticky mouthfeel and clean finish. Hides the ABV well. Disappointing lack of hops for a DIPA.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2011 Bottle 33 cl. batch 275. Served at 8 degree celcius. Honey elderberry aroma with a dry grape- fruit taste and a dry palate with plenty of nice bitterness. Love strong hoppy IPA’s.

UPDATED: JUL 23, 2011 Draught @ Pikkulintu, Helsinki

Pours dark orange with a foamy white head. Taste is surprisingly dry, not very sweet. Still quite hoppy and fruity. Pretty good, but a bit unbalanced. 8-4-8-4-14 = 3.8

Re-rated on 23.7.2011. Bottle from Alko. Batch 220, BBE 18.6.2012. Slightly better from a fresh bottle, hops and fruits dominate more and overall the taste is more balanced. 8-4-9-4-16 = 4.1

330 ml bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu.
Pours a clear copper colour with a natural white, lacy head. Aroma of stinging and strong hops with flowery notes. Strong flavour of bitter hops, caramel malts, grass and dried fruits. Medium bodied, thick and hop-dry mouthfeel. A lot better than the first edition.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2012 Had to re-rate this as I wasn’t impressed first time around. Dark amber colour and a frothy off white head. Strong aroma of fruits and alcohol. Initial taste is sweet and fruity until the hops and huge bitter finish. Much better the second time around.

Dark coppery colored with little yellow head. Rich piney aroma with thin peach. Medium bodied. Flavor is also rich and straightforward with pine dominating, lemon and thin peach also here. Aftertaste lasts, grass and pine, well hopped and bitter, fresh IPA.

22.4 oz bottle. Pours a hazy coppery red with a thick, dense khaki head. Aroma is full of caramel and resinous pine sap with some grassy and hay scents too. The flavor is pretty sweet up front, lots of caramel malt and some sugar with a hop bitterness that fades in and finishes strong. Medium body with an average carbonation and a syrupy mouth feel. This is definitely one of those IPAx2’s that are on the sweet side, the big hop character helps it out a lot though.

12 oz bottle. Pours a deep golden amber with a small creamy light tan head. Aroma is very citric hoppy, a touch of cheesiness, so obviously not the freshest bottle which I was worried about, but also not nearly as bad as it could be. The nice mango and tangerine come through very well with a pretty strong sweet caramel and candy note. Flavor starts with a quick touch of honey before a burst of citric and mango fruit. A touch of the stale cheesiness comes back but only for a moment Finishes with a biting lightly piney hop note and a bit more herbal and earthiness. A touch of booziness lingers. Medium to medium body and a softer carbonation. Glad it wasn’t terribly oxidized, I could see what they were going for, and its not bad, though no where near something like Dreadnaught

33cl bottle from Brewery. I did wonder how much this would vary from the Mikkeler joint production. My immediate thought was not as much of a caramel character, but certainly like a sack of fresh hops in your glass. Quite a plain Autmnal red appearance, so much mouthfeel, tonnes of grapefruit and grassiness and that rich warming sensation as it slides its way down the throat and into the chest. Quite superb.
