This Imperial India Pale Ale Rocks... Hardcore! But don’t feel obliged to take our word for it, this little bottle has a grandiloquent story to tell. 2,204 malted Maris Otter grains gave all they had to offer the world to provide the robustly delicate toffee malt canvas for the ensuing epic. 4 Hop Cones willingly sacrificed themselves in fiery cauldron that is our brew kettle to ensure your mouth is left feeling punished and puckering for more. 9,900,000,000 yeast cells frantically fermented their little hearts out as the sugars were magically turned into alcohol in the dark depths of our fermentation tanks. 2 humans and 1 canine companion are relatively happy with the results
Note this is for the new petrol blue coloured labels with white lettering, which is 9.2%. Ratings for the older bottles with with bright blue label and black lettering should go under the first edition.

This is an excellent IPA with balanced aromas of pine and resin, and a flavor that is both bitter and sweet. The alcohol is mostly hidden in the rich, full palate. This IPA is very enjoyable and interesting. Highly recommended.

Bottle bought at Geers. Grapefruit, very malty, sweet, very high bitterness, sticky. Very sweet, too sweet even.

Bottle from Masuyo in Asagaya. Pours a clear orange with a big soapy off-white head. Orange, citrus, biscuit, passion fruit and grapefruit on the nose. Quite fragrant throughout. Well-balanced with good carbonation and a full body. Not overly sweet and really quaffable. Good bitter finish that lingers. ABV is hidden pretty well. Solid.

330ml bottle enjoyed @ home. Pours clear orange amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, mango, caramel, biscuits and citrus. Medium bitter and medium sweet. Full bodied, sticky texture, soft to medium carbonation. Finish is malty and tropical fruits.

Sampled as Tesco’s Finest American Double IPA. Orange colour with a medium white head. Aromas of malt and pine. The taste has powerful malt flavours with a toffee-ish sweetness. Powerful hop flavours of citrus, spice and pine. There is a mouth-filling complexity, with an oily feel. Great stuff.

A cloudy orange pour with a great lacing in the glass which for a beer of this ABV you would hope that it does leave its sticky footprint. I love the balance this beer demonstrates. More than anything the impression it leaves is one of bitterness beautifully countered by biscuity maltiness. This doesn’t detract from the freshness of the nose and the pleasant mouthfeel. A fine beer.

Brewdog’s famed DIPA, tasted from a small tasting glass (from tap) shared by Craftmember at Brewdog’s new pub in Brussels, right next to the central station. Thick and dense, frothy, egg-white head sitting on top of a cloudy orange blond beer with light brownish hue. Strong and very typically American DIPA aroma of a ton of grapefruit, pine resin, orange peel, gin, pepper, mango, whisky, lychee, chicken broth and pineapple. Tropical fruits in the mouth as well (mango, pineapple, lychee), yet clean and crisp, sweet but restrained with soft carbo and supple, lightly honeyish, caramelly, smooth malt body; expectedly finishes in a very strong, lasting, drying, complex, very aromatic, citrusy and piney hop bitterness, after which a glow of warming, gin-like alcohol can be felt, perhaps just a little bit too obvious. Had the alcohol been more cleverly hidden, this would have been a world-class imperial IPA for sure; it is, however, the only negative thing I can say about it and I did thoroughly enjoy it because of its lush tropical fruit character, big and creamy maltiness and bold, vast hoppiness without becoming overly abrasive.

Bottle, 330 cl. Poured from the bottle to the glass, drank from the glass. Aroma: a lot of caramel, toffee. Very hoppy as well - tropical fruits: rape mango, pineapple, maracuia (american hops). A hint of alcohol is noticeable. Golden-amber colour, quite hazy with beautiful, stable, white big head. Taste is more like a barley wine for me, to be honest. Heavy in sweetness, very heavy bitterness. Full bodied, oily, quite fizzy. Very long and bitter finish. One of the best beers I’ve ever drank.

Good look to this, big thick head that diminished nicely and left lacing. Big earthy, grass, herbs, vanilla, smells along with hops and pine. Surprisingly light tasting for an IPA and for 9.2%. No real bitterness, in fact I’d describe it as floral or even nutty
