mcc5468 (42), USA Jul 20, 2008 Gold hazy color. Aroma was of sweet hops. Extremely sweet taste. I’d almost swear I tasted pineapple in there. I must have had a bad bottle because this one just didn’t do it for me. It was almost medicinal in aftertaste. I am a big fan of hops but this just wasn’t good. Based on other people’s ratings I’m willing to give it another try at some point.
scraff (1662), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2008 Tasting - Perfect Pour. Gold, thin white head. Soft aromas of citrus and cedar wood warm to a light swirls of caramel. Tangerine and tropical fruit flavors ride notes of toffee from start to finish. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. A mellow D-IPA that seemed to work for me... bhensonb (2883), Woodland, California, USA Sep 1, 2008 Bottle from John’s Marketplace in Portland, OR. BB 07/07/09. Slightly hazy gold color with a frothy white head. Aromas of light stone fruit - fruity hops? Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is fruity hop over mild malt. Quite bitter. Touches of citrus. Rather soft and mellow in texture. Gentile for the style. Delicious. Molto gentile to the palate. wyzzywyz22 (327), Wirral, Merseyside, England Sep 1, 2008 Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a rich pissy golden colour with a thin white head. Very fragrant hop aroma and flavour with a definite boozy streak running thru the whole gig. Good peachy citrus bite there too. Got better with each sip and left me wanting another straight away, which is always a good sign. Great bitter finish. Classy little number and the best brew dog i’ve tasted thus far. riversideAK (1583), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 31, 2008 Pours a yellow golden with no real head. Oxidized hops smell vaguely floral with hints of pale sweet malts. Soft citrus flavors of orange, tangerine followed by light sweet malts and a bit of bitterness. I guess one could say that it is fruity. The hops are kind of flat and this beer is very oxidized to me. Lingering hop presence is boring and bland. This doesn’t work for me really, it is probably a lot better fresh and not oxidized. Whatever. JPDIPSO (4234), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Aug 27, 2008 Weak looking pour with a thin, somewhat wispy head of white bubbles. Lightly hazed light cider appearance. Some citric cedar scents. A touch of malt in the backdrop that reminds me of golden promise. Big citric start with a mix of pulp, pith and zest. Flavors of very light caramel and then a bit of cedar kick in. A bit lifeless and cloying in feel, but the zest help clean things up a touch. Some fruit, including pear and apricot in the middle. Finish has a light citric kick, in a key lime kind of way. I’m not catching the 9%. For me it lacks some depth and is much to citric in flavor without the bitterness to pull it out.
