4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Brewdog Camden. It pours hazy orange-amber, with a thick beige head. The nose is pine, resin, sherbet, wood polish, apricot, persimmon, peach, tinned nectarine, caramel and petrol. The taste is pine, resin, caramel, leaf, orange sherbet, mango, persimmon, pear, red apple, leather and white grape, with a long bitter-sweet finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, flavoursome and very drinkable. Yes it’s a touch sweet, but I like it!

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Keg at Brewdog Glasgow. High carbonation, not as refined a flavour as standard Hardcore with a more robust hop profile which seems to change the malt character of the beer more than one might expect. Overly sweet but an interesting take on a classic.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAR 16, 2012 On tap at BrewDog Nottingham. An amber/auburn brew with a small head. Delicious aroma of (not too much) syrup mixed with the hops. Medium bitter taste with some grapefruit. A perfect balance of sweetness and bitter hops with a long, bitter finish. Smooth like wine. More sweet than the original Hardcore IPA which, from the sample I tried, was also top notch. Really outstanding.

12th March 2012
On tap at Brewdog Camden. My 100th Brewdog - or thereabouts! Had a 3rd of the regular Hardcore first to compare and contrast. The NZ seems more intense in most ways - a real turned up to ’11’ contrast. Clear dark amber beer, tidy off white head. Smooth palate, bordering on silky. Mild fine carbonation. Intense resinous hops! Skunk! Tropical fruits in a tinned syrupy sort of way. Pine. Sweet grass. Nelson filth. Even a whisper of estery bubblegum - banana. Finally a trace of sweeter fruits come through. More of everything then. Hugely hop rich, complex and tasty but doesn’t reach the very highest echelons for me as half a pint was more than enough. Not that I would expect to session this monster but I would expect to be desiring more than a half. Nontheless an enjoyable hop slap round the chops!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Keg at BrewDog. Orange pour, creamy head. Massive hop nose, peaches, orange pith, slightly cat pee, big resinous and juicy. Palate is juicy orange, some passion fruit, massively resinous with a slightly caramel malt backbone and a juicy bitter finish. Hint of booze also, but mostly well hidden. Massive but tasty!
