bottle & keg, special
For our Finnish friends, we continued our Hello My Name Is series with this 8.2% double IPA, brewed with sea buckthorn, a tart and bitter berry found on the Finnish coastline.
We’ve combined the sea buckthorn’s tart character with a careful selection of hop flavours - good bittering hops early on, with our favourite dry hops for intense fruitiness on the nose. Bright, vibrant aromas of tangerine, mandarin and peach, with zesty hits of lime, envelop the nutty, caramel malt backbone. The intense fruitiness gives a jammy quality to the nose. On the palate is a warm biscuity sweetness, with tropical fruits in a supporting role to a huge grapefruit and orange bitterness. The sea buckthorn adds a tart, almost sour, dry finish, leaving the palate ready for the next mouthful.
Hello My Name is Päivi combines bitter, sweet and tart in perfect beery harmony.

Draught at Brewdog Roppongi. Opaque amber with little head. Citrus hop aroma, but dominated by sweet malts. Flavour is far better balanced, with a nice fresh hop finish.

Saeglopur (538) - Vienna Woods, AUSTRIA - JAN 22, 2015
330 ml bottle from Ammersin 5, Vienna.
Dark golden, moderate hazy body, with a quite small, creamy, white head.
Aroma of jam, grapefruit, berries, peach, resin, caramel.
Taste is bitter and dry, with lemon zest, peach, berries, resin, biscuit.
Medium, oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes bitter, dry, zesty, but also with sweet berries and some malts.

Nice, but too extreme for my liking, the taste is too much dominated by the strong bitterness, while the nose is quite lovely. Not as balanced as the description suggests in my opinion, but my bottle isn’t fresh anymore, so maybe it was better some months ago. Overall not my favourite beer from the "Hello" series.

Drinked this quite time ago and remeber that it was super fruity estery in aroma, juicy even in flavor for DIPA so kind of ruining hops for me. Thick bodied and texture, moderate+ carbonation. Light to medium bitter. Drinkable, but not appropriate for style.

Brewdog tasting @ Viisi Penniä. Deep golden color, white head. Hoppy aroma with fruity notes. Slightly sour, hoppy flavor with thick syrupy notes. Lingering, bitter finish with lingonberries or cranberries. Full body, medium carbonation. Well-crafted, but not a personal favorite.

Bottle from some random Vinmonopol enjoyed at home
Pours orange/brown, hazy, big beige head. Smell of citrus, zest, some sea bucktorn, grapefruit and malts. Heavy sweet, the typical "My name is..." flavors, some sirupy texture, then hints of sea bucktorn and acids. Medium bitter finish. Quite nice

Backlog rating. Keg at BD Shoreditch, London. It pours a clean light golden color with a medium white head. Aroma is fruity, juicy, hoppy with notes of grapefruits, sea salt, dried leaves, citrus skin, light tanginess and mustiness. Taste is medium sweet and lightly bitter with a quite dry tangy citric finish. More noted of grapefruit, sea salt, bread. Medium bodied with creamy mouthfeel and good carbonation. Overall, quite good IPA
