COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
bottle & keg, special
For our Finnish friends, we continued our Hello My Name Is series with this 8.2% double IPA, brewed with sea buckthorn, a tart and bitter berry found on the Finnish coastline.
We’ve combined the sea buckthorn’s tart character with a careful selection of hop flavours - good bittering hops early on, with our favourite dry hops for intense fruitiness on the nose. Bright, vibrant aromas of tangerine, mandarin and peach, with zesty hits of lime, envelop the nutty, caramel malt backbone. The intense fruitiness gives a jammy quality to the nose. On the palate is a warm biscuity sweetness, with tropical fruits in a supporting role to a huge grapefruit and orange bitterness. The sea buckthorn adds a tart, almost sour, dry finish, leaving the palate ready for the next mouthful.
Hello My Name is Päivi combines bitter, sweet and tart in perfect beery harmony.

12oz bottle via Summer Secret Santa 2014 pours a clear, orange with some lacing, sticky, white head. Nose is interesting, some berry cobbler, orange, quite a bit of soap, some herbs, a little bit of candy sugar. Flavor is interesting too, a little bit of cranberry, orange, pine, soap, malt, a touch of candy, a little bit of stone fruit rounds things out. Finishes fairly bitter and astringent.

0.33l bottle. Clear dark orange body, thin white head. Huge grassy and piny hop notes in the aroma backed with some caramel and orange zest. Strong piny hop flavor with caramel and an interesting jam character (probably that’s the buckthorn). Very nice DIPA.

Drank from a bottle at home. The beer is sweet and bitter at the same time. There’s some fruits or berries in the taste too.

330ml bottle from Brewdog online store. Clear orange amber colour, white foam head and aroma of tropical fruit, citrus, pine, hoppy. Taste is malt caramel with citrusy, berry, pine notes and grassy hop bitterness. Slight oily mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry bitter finish. Very drinkable DIPA.

Delicious IPA. Can’t say I could taste the buckthorn so much, but there was a unique spicy citrus flavor to it that could be attributed to it. Otherwise a ridiculously solid IPA. Perfect next to some spicy Madras curry! Well worth a try!
