This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

ALLOVATE (2656) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JUN 20, 2015
Deep, orange body, faintly misted (chill haze?) with fine carbonation and a well established, off-white and tight foam that laces well. There is honey and caramelised oranges on the nose, some apricot and cumquat amongst your usual suspects. Bountifully aromatic and on the sweeter side with no hint of that alcohol. Quite laid back and streamlined on the palate. The explosive fruit nose is turned down a notch as far as flavour. Fruit dominated with a sweet, toasted malt front and a bready mid-palate. Light bodied and soft with an oily finish. Drinks like a 4 per center. Bitter, piney finish with some juicy fruit lingering long. It is easy to drink, balanced and tasty enough but just doesn’t excite me the way I wanted it too. Doesn’t really stand out from other IPA’s on the market. Pyszne, intensywnie owocowe i aromatyczne piwo. Hoppy life!

CONCLUSION : une ipa absolument splendide.
