This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

Rune (9366) - Tromsø, NORWAY - NOV 17, 2013
UPDATED: NOV 21, 2013 330ml bottle, as Voodoo Doll, 6.8 % abv, bought at Vinmonopolet Sentrum Tromsø. The body is almost clear and has got a dark golden colour. Slightly off-white head that stays and laces well. Fresh smell of grapefruit and pine. Smooth taste profile of herbs, peach, lemon and grapefruit accomplished by soft, malty sweetness. Rounded bittersweet finish. Very smooth on the swallow. A good, session-like, IPA (Tromsø 17.11.2013).

Bottle: Deep golden, almost not hazy; exotic fruits (mango and so on…) with piney and herbal traces; solid bitter-sweet flavour, quite full bodied; dryishh medical or cough-syrupy finish with a good dash of balancing caramel; but a lingering dry hoppy aftertaste. Classy stuff…

Keg at BrewDog Camden. It pours clear amber with a medium yellow-white head. The nose is orange, satsuma, mango, bubblegum, Irn Bru and light earth. The taste is earth, grapefruit, tangerine, orange, caramel, assertive bitterness, orange squash, alcohol warmth and cracked black pepper with a bitter finish. Medium body and moderate-high carbonation. Good bitterness. A well made IPA.

Stated to be 6.8% ABV.
Hazy golden color, fluffy white head. Pineapple, fruity, passionfruit, mango, tropical fruits scent. SWeet, malty, tropical fruits taste. Medium mouthfeel, medium bitterness.
I liked it a lot more than I thought, it coming from this brewery that I’ve had so many bad experiences from, pleasantly surprised!

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, golden colour with a mid-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Fruity and slightly floral hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit and tangerine. Moderately bitter and delicately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Dry-ed malt-character with a tinge of cough syrup and loads of hops, including fruity and exotic accents, also a lighter resiny touch; dry fruity and resiny hoppy finish with a mildly malty backbone in the aftertaste. Very more-ish brew. 19.I.14

Cloudy amber colour with a big foamy off-white head. Fruity and piney hops, mild bitterness, sweet caramel and mild sourness in the aroma. Mild bitterness and some fruits in the flavour. One of many many BrewDog IPAs. Fizzy.

330 ml bottle. 7.5%. #320. BB 11/10/13. (Alko) Helsinki, Finland.
Cloudy amber colour with a small white head. Sweet malt, some mild spices, strong piney and fruity hops, moderate bitterness and minerals in the aroma. The flavour is strong piney and fruity hops, soap, moderate bitterness, sweet malt and some spices. It’s not exactly the Christmas time but who cares... it could be Christmas all the time.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks Chula. Slightly hazy golden. Aroma of citric hops, slightly stale with light tropical hints. Flavor has some sweetish malt with a touch of caramel, nice fruity hops, some citric, and a nice bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Nice.

Medium, just off-white head, over hazy yellow-orange beer. Oxydized hops, dull spices, rosewater. Oxydation, grainy; sweet grapefruit, if that makes any sense. Rather well-bodied, quite slick, well-carbonated. Aftertaste has sweet cookies, sweet dough. Strange - somehow totally different from what I might have expected.
