single hop simcoe IPA
This Christmas, wish for a green Christmas. Where flurries of hop flakes blanket the world like you’ve never seen it before. And crunching through crisp, sparkling drifts releases billows of pineapple, citrus and papaya with every step. The reign of the snow angel is over. Long live the hop angel where parks and playgrounds become adorned with the outlines of celestial beings that fell to Earth from angry looking emerald clouds. Tune in to breakfast TV to find life’s on hold for 24 hours as this ’hop day’ demands you rocket down a hill on the back of a baking tray. Or simply raise a glass of this festive IPA as we wish you a very hoppy Christmas.

On tap at Man in the Moon, January 2014. Labeled as Voodoo Doll. Amber/golden with a white head. Nothing special with this one. Grapefruit, malt, pine and toffee. Also notes of earth. The finish was bitter.

Medium offwhite head. Nearly clear amber body, but lots of little particles. Grapefruit, kiwi and cat’s pee aroma with spicy notes. Dry-sweet wooden strawberry taste with kiwi notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish wooden spicy aftertaste with gooseberry and cat’s pee notes. Fisherman’s Friend traces linger. Not bad, but the hop character is a bit odd. (0.33l bottle, from wine monopoly, Strømmen.)

Thx! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “Nog-een-half-jaar-tot-de-volgende-EBT”. Blond Christmas beers seem to be all the rage / the hip thing to do these days. Orange, little white head. Nose is sweetish sticky pine resin, peel, touch caramel malts. Taste is touch metallic, bitter orange, tad caramel base. Med. Body. Okay. Bottled on 01/10/2014.

Tap at Brewdog Camden. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin white head and some broken lace. The aroma is nettle hop with a little wood. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with a watery light hop bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Tastes like a lighter clone of the Interstellar.
