COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Good old Bramling Cross is elegant, refined, assured, (boring) and understated. Understated that is unless you hop the living daylights out of a beer with it. This is Bramling Cross re-invented and re-imagined and shows just what can be done with English hops if you use enough of them. Poor Bramling Cross normally gets lost in a woeful stream of conformist brown ales made by sleepy cask ale brewers. But not anymore. This beer shows that British hops do have some soul, and is a fruity riot of blackberries, pears, and plums. Reminds me of the bramble, apple and ginger jam my grandmother used to make.

Bottled. An amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, hops, and flowers. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, fruits, and bread, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a clear deep golden with a creamy off-white head. Greasy and fruity hop aroma. Medium body, some sweet caramel, strange licorice notes from the hops and a good and bitter finish. I had feared the worst from the Brmling X hops but they’re actually pretty inoffensive. Not very interesting though. 050411

Clear amber beer, little white head. Light and semi soft palate, a little dry. Rich earthy and spicy hops. A trace of orange marmalade underneath. Some creamy malt forms a base. Finishes with more earthy spicy hops. A bit different this IPA and a great showcase for Brambling Cross.

Cloudy golden color; medium sized creamy head, persistent. Once more, the aroma of this hop is not interesting: strong smell of soil, dust, pond water, cardboard, light sweat; getting slightly better on second impression, with some more expected hop resins. The caramel and toffee flavor is quite good, dry, but the mouthfeel is round as well; strong bitterness, with some resins and hop oils, very light fruity character, soil and dust again; boring.

2011-03-26, bottle from Ølbaren, Copenhagen, 7-4-7-3-13=34
Hazy golden color; generous head. Nice aroma of citrusy hops, a bit sweaty. Dry toffee flavor, with a bit too evident cereals flavor too; good hopping level, bitter as required, but also a bit dusty. Nothing special.
