COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Pacific North West of America is home to the Citra hop. America is not just about cheer leaders, a silly version of football, elastic top jeans and cheeseburgers. They grow remarkable hops and Citra is a killer example of this, embodying all that is good about American hops and then some. A relatively new hop on the block, it may even seduce you into thinking the American Dream is not just a catch phrase to sell movies and elect Presidents. Fearfully hard to resist, this beer is loaded with brash citrus, grapefruit orange, hints of resinous pine and touches of black currant. Devilishly moreish. I am a little bit too obsessed with this beer for my own good.

Pours gold with a white head. Smells of pronounced, juicy citrus. Tastes citrussy with some grapefruit, blood orange and sweet citrussy elements on the finish.

[330ml bottle, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh] Hazy deep golden pour – big aroma of mango, which for me is the classic strong American IPA nose. Straight up tropical fruit from start to finish – let down slightly by the lack of any bitter finish to complement it. Sampled alongside Kernel Citra IPA, you can tell which of the two is better crafted. Still a good beer though [08032011]

Bottle... Clear golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. I guess my olfactory system is a couple tacos short of a Mexican combo platter, because I pull only two things out of the nose – apricot and musk. That’s it. Sorry. Well, I AM good at describing how a beer feels in my mouth and this one feels somewhere right between medium and full-bodied with mild carbonation. You see? That description may be equaled one day, but it will never be beaten. The flavor is moderately bitter and mildly acidic with lovely, fruity notes of orange peel, pink grapefruit, peach and apricot. Just a hint of pine needle bitterness in there too. Finishes up fruity, sandy and Mojave-dry. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small white head and an aroma of fruity hops, bubblegum and orange peel. The taste is on the sweet side, it has some notes of citrus, white grapes and some molasses. Soon a hoppy bitterness comes in, the bitter finish is pretty short.

Bottle at Beer Temple. Nice amber body with thin head. Nose is great hoppy and pines. Really lovely taste too of lots of hops and pines and bitter. Some fruit in there. A great hop that Citra hop. Splendid!

33cl bottle shared with friends. Ok head. Blond colour. Even better than the Bramling X and that was pretty good

[3/9/11] Bottle at Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Amber-colored with a white head, served in an awesome-looking BrewDog glass. Strong aroma of lovely citrusy hops. Bitter hoppy flavor with fresh, juicy, citric hops and a light sweetness. Medium-bodied. A good refreshing IPA.
