COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nelson is a love it or hate it kinda hop. We are cool with that, if we wanted to keep everyone happy we would be brewing Fosters anyway. Sharp as a razor, this New Zealand hop slices its way through your taste buds and is brutally resinous, almost scraping the intense flavours of passion fruit along your poor tongue.  There is a huge depth of tropical fruit flavour with astringent gooseberry balanced against the robust malt base.  Throw another shrimp on the Barbie mate and you are all set. New Zealand is near Austria, right?

I’m not sure if I forgot to rate this or not. Luckily I found my old taste notes so doing it again. Notes are from the release in 2011. Allot of rubber and plastic in the smell and taste. Not as bad as Sorachi Ace and I do get some fruity aromas in this one. Some fresh berries and tropical fruits. However something must have gone wrong with this beer.

(backlog) Draft at beer temple. Orange pour with tan head. Orangey citrus, and earthy aromas. Flavor is sweet, citrus and some earthy tones.

Bottle from the brewery, drunk at home 11th June 2011 with tashi - IPA is Dead set #1 tasting. And as expected... Tons of resin. Resin bomb basically!

Backlog, vertical tasting of all 4 in the Beer Temple (tap), shortly after release. Golden to amber color, white head. Aroma’s: resinous, fruit (not so clearly lychee as for instance Mikkeller’s Nelson Sauvin Single Hop). Retronasal there’s sesame, roast, resin, fruits. Flavor is herbal, some acidity from the CO2, and moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes with a firm bitterness (good burp).

Backlog, tried at a Brewdog tasting. Bottle from Systembolaget. Probably the best that was offered in this 4-pack (Citra, Nelson, Sorachi and Bramling.)

Bottle 33cl. A slight hazy amber colour with a white head. An aroma of grass, grapefruit and black-currant. The taste is light sweet and medium bitter.

The first time I tasted the Nelson Sauvin hop, it was the start of a love affair. This beer truly makes the brilliance of the Nelson Sauvin stand out.

330 ml bottle sampled in 2011. Pretty clear, golden body with a nice, dense off-white head. Strong citric abd tropical fruit aroma with ripe mangos and pine. Flavor as expected from aroma, tropical/citric, ripe mangos and pine. Balanced good bitterness and a fine malt base with some caramel. Medium body and bitter aftertaste. Nice, the hop profile is more obvious here than other single hop Nelsons I have sampled.
