COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nelson is a love it or hate it kinda hop. We are cool with that, if we wanted to keep everyone happy we would be brewing Fosters anyway. Sharp as a razor, this New Zealand hop slices its way through your taste buds and is brutally resinous, almost scraping the intense flavours of passion fruit along your poor tongue.  There is a huge depth of tropical fruit flavour with astringent gooseberry balanced against the robust malt base.  Throw another shrimp on the Barbie mate and you are all set. New Zealand is near Austria, right?

Keg at Holyrood 9A, IPAID launch event. Aroma of passion fruit, citrus peel. Very clean. Hints of apple. Longer aftertaste here, salty, bitter and fresh.

On tap at Brewdog Bar, Aberdeen. It pours a cloudy amber colour with a foamy white head. The nose is of grape, orange, lemon, passion fruit and varnish. The taste is resin, grape, orange and lemon peel, lime, sour gooseberry and wood with a long, bold bitter finish. It’s very drinkable for the alcohol percentage.

This was not as zesty as I expected. The nose was more vegetal than citrus-fruit. I’m pinpointing the nose down to parsnip in the end. A soft and fairly balanced beer on the palate. Is this hop generally more used for hopping in the kettle or is it primarily a dry-hop varietal. I am confused.

Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Clear amber - white head. Lots of Nelson Sauvin hops, tropical fruits, apricot, perfumed, petroleum, cat piss, passion fruits, a bit too much malty sweetness, caramel notes, light bitterness. Nice.

Pint at The Rake, London. A big hit of pineapple in the aroma, with a touch of vanilla. Taste is quite the same with the hop having a prickly feeling in the mouth, and plenty of tropical and oaky flavour. Could still taste the hop this morning. Did enjoy this, but there was something odd (not a bad thing) in the flavour that i just couldnt put my finger on.
