Keg and bottled, 2013 release
Using the same base 6.7% beer, a baby version of our Hardcore, we slam a mouth puckering 75 IBUs on top of a base of Maris Otter, Crystal Malt and Caramalt before throwing dizzying amounts of hops at these beers.
Waimea is a new hop variety that has both aroma and bittering capability, and is the granddaughter of Pacific Jade. Pacific Jade is also a hop, not a hippy belly dancing gypsy on crack.
It has been described as having intense fresh tangelo, citrus fruit and pine needle characteristics,
High on it’s own alpha, Waimea has a new world flavour, infusing unique fresh crushed citrus aroma and flavour notes into this IPA. Sharp as a razor, this New Zealand hop slices your taste buds with intense fresh tangelo, citrus fruit and pine needle characteristics There is a huge depth flavour with astringent gooseberry balanced against the robust malt base. Throw another shrimp on the Barbie mate and you are all set. New Zealand is near Australia, right?

Bottle. Pours a hazy light orange colour with a thin but lasting pearl head. Good carbonation. Aroma is hoppy, notes of grass and flowers. Taste is hoppy bitterness, with floral notes. Warming mouthfeel, but with a touch of coolness perhaps from the hops. Finish is hoppy, with floral and grassy tones. A heck of a lot of flavouring and aromatic hops, bitter but not overly. Malt undertones are there but muted. Overall this is excellent, a work of art in terms of a beer!

Butelka 0.3L.

From a bottle. Really crisp citrus flavours punch through the malt, smooth and well worth a try.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, with a moderate off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves good lacing. Mango and mandarin hops notes play around a core of pine resin, with caramel malt backing, to create the aroma. Assertive lime and resin hops up front soften into mango leading into the mid-palate. Caramel malt gives it some body, with lime and mandarin hops giving the finish plenty of bite. This has a lovely breadth of hops flavour from a single variety, and is probably the best of the current crop of IPA is Dead.
