Released as part of 2014 IPA is Dead selection
As you’d expect from a New Zealand hop variety, Kohatu contributes bags of tropical fruit, but with loads of lime notes, & pineapple hits.

Bottle. Drunk in a flight with four IPA Is Dead beers. Aromas of honey although not as sweet as the Amarillo hop, with earth ad forest hints. Quite dry bitterness up front, leading to sweet honey, earth and a touch of alcohol. Enjoyable flavours but not all that well integrated together. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

IBU : 75
Kolor: Pomarańczowy. Mętny.
Piana: Krótka. Niska. Mało intensywna. Biała. Składa się z setek bardzo drobnych oczek.
Zapach : Wyrażnie żywiczny. Na drugim planie zioła wszelkiej maści. Lekko herbaciany aromat.
Smak: Zróżnicowany ale w stronę ziołowo-herbacianą. Owocowe nuty na drugim planie. Sugestie owoców lasu : jeżyny i mocno wyczuwalne w smaku maliny. Z owoców tropikalnych najbardziej wyczuwalny jest ananas. Na finiszu subtelnie pikantne, pieprzowe. Goryczka ziołowa, umiarkowana.
Wysycenie: Niskie. Podsumowanie:
Kolejny mój Single Hop z serii IPA Is Dead. Tym razem chmiel - Kohatu. Bardzo przypomina mi Comet z mojej poprzedniej recenzji. Ten jest mniej herbaciany - bardziej ziołowy. Bardzo ciekawa odmiana. Piwo bardzo pijalne i sesyjne. Lekkie i przyjemne w smaku.

Bottle: Light amber coloured, cloudy, big and stable off-white head; sweet-bitter nose of raisins and dark malt with a very mild woody-tannic touch; quite robust sweet and bitter flavour, medium bodied, creamy MF; hops and bread and fruits in the sweetish-bitter finish. Good, but not exciting…

BOTTLE. Cloudy pale orange colour with small foamy head.. Sticky hops on the nose with some melon & grapefruit??.. Huge resin stickiness through the whole mouthful, subtle sweet fruity hops with a sappy malt finish.. Better fresh for sure.. Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. Best Before: 11/03/2015. A: Pours a slightly cloudy orange to amber color forming a huge big bubbled soapy off white head with super retention and some soapy lacings left in the glass. S: Strong notes of caramel malts and hops. Very fruity. Strong notes of tropical fruits. Pineapple, lime and watermelon. Sweet and a bit boozy. T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of caramel malts, tropical fruits. Pineapple, grapefruit and watermelon. Notes of sweet bread and grass. A bit boozy in the mouth too. Good but not very persistent bitterness. M: Medium body. Average carbonation. Caramel, grass and pineapple in the the aftertaste. O: Good drinkability. It was expired and already a bit compromised by its age but still an average IPA.
