Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds. For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Another BrewDog IPA, tasted at their new establishment in Brussels. Stable, thick, dense and creamy, snow white head misty golden blonde colour with warm orangey hue. Powerful American-style hops aroma of fresh orange peel, lemon blossom, pink grapefruit flesh, cedar needles, mango, redcurrant, raw pineapple, kiwi, flowers. Tropical fruits abounding in the mouth, mango, lychee, kiwi, pineapple, papaja, with strong and minerally carbo (perhaps a tad too strong for this style), followed by a smooth and clean, caramelly malt sweetness with a honeyish edge, only serving as a vehicle for a robust, complex, very characterful hop profile, revealing itself as a long, drying bitterness in the end upon which a beautiful citrusy, fruity, peppery and piney aroma is built, but still allowing some of the juicy malt character to seep through. Fantastic double IPA.

Dourada levemente turva com boa formação de espuma de média duração. Notas lupuladas, presença forte de floral e cítrico, nuances e pinho e equilibrio do malte. Corpo médio, adstringente com final longo e potente amargor no retrogosto.

7.2 % alc. vol. 33 cl, canned. Pours clear yellow with no head. Aroma: Pleasantly fruity, some malt. Peaches, dried apricot. Taste: Medium-mild sweet, noticeable bitterness. Some malty flavours, mostly fruity tho. Pretty good. Notable hopping. Palate: Near medium-light body, some carbonation. Not bad. Decent (R)IPA, that’s it. Thanks.

That’s very good - I think my favourite Brewdog beer so far and one of the nicest I’ve had from a can. Gold, almost clear with a small white head. Good oily body. Massive whoosh of grapefruit, with a touch of pine and sweetness to balance the aroma. Taste starts like it’s going to be light and fruity, but then the bitter kick takes hold, with the caramel malts holding it together. Great balance. Thanks Rich.

Growler. The smell is pine, fruit, hops, grapefruit, ok. The look is clear, golden in color, off white head. The taste is about the same.

Bottle 33cl. Almost bright yellow, gold with a small white top. The aroma has mild touches (yeast, malt) but is accented by the dry hop flavours. The taste is nicely balanced, like the aroma: there’s a deep bitter undertone of the dry hops but it’s all very accessable because of the mild touches. Not bad...

This does well to cram so much flavour in such a short profile. Arid dry finish that comes after the rich caramel, the crashing bitterness, the hints of the grapefruit like things and no gaps. Breathtaking but not in a bad way.

Pours hazy yellow with bubbly head. Aroma of lime, lemon, pine, very hoppy. Taste is very bitter but balanced with sweetness of malt. Reminds me of a more powerful Punk IPA (which I love). Slightly oily and slick mouthfeel. A lovely beer, powerful and satisfying.
