Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds. For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Almost clear, amber with small white head. Peach and grapefruit aroma, pine too, increasing later on. Flavour has lemon and grapefruit with pine towards finish and continuing in a lasting bitterness. Nice.

Pours golden yellow with thin white head. Intense aroma of grapefruit and pine, west-coast style. Taste is very bitter, hoppy, light malty. Dry, bitter finish, soft carbonation.

Bottle - Slight hazy deep golden colour, medium white head, good retention and lacing. Very intense citrussy and resinous aromas, grapefruit, lemon zest, pine, grass. Taste of biscuit, some caramel and lots of grapefruit, lemon, pine, mango. Medium body, average carbonation, long dry and intense bitter finish. Well rounded, heavyweight IPA with decent citrus and resinous character. Highly recommended.

I would say aroma is hop full force, but as a friend told me, it totally is the weed odor. The taste of hop is also strong and followed by heavy bitterness, which remove the refreshing part of the beer, as it leaves you with a dry mouth (but it’s not unbearable).

pour a bright slightly hazy yellow, with a small white head. aroma is pretty hop forward, grapefruit, plenty of grass, lemon peel, spruce.. Taste is pretty bitter, with a very faint sweet backbone. Medium body, with a slight oily texture, and a rather flat carbonation.

Appearance: hazy deep gold with moderate particulate, one finger of rocky ivory head diminishing gradually to a thin skim, patchy lacing. (3/5) Aroma: pithy grapefruit, dank, pine, caramel. (8/10) Taste: moderate sweet, strong bitter. (7/10) Medium oily body, moderate carbonation, lingering intensely bitter finish. (4/5) Devastatingly dank and hoppy palate wrecker. Not exactly a surprise, given the presence of solid alpha acid particulate. There’s a little residual alcohol sweetness, but for the most part it’s like being smacked in the mouth with a brick of hops… or, given the dankness, maybe a brick of pot... (15/20)
