Ruthless India Pale Ale

Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds.

For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Poured from 330mL bottle (batch 190; best before 14-08-14). Hazy, light orangey yellow with off-white head. Tropical, grassy hops with a bit of malt and very subtle hint of skunk. Bitter and resinous, but has a quick finish.

0.33l bottle. Slightly cloudy orangeish body, thin white head. Very sweet fruity aroma with notes of peach, melon, honey and pine. Based on the aroma, I expected a fruity taste, but it’s more piney. Very nice IPA.

Keg - light amber with a bubbly beige head. Good retention and good lacing. Aroma of lemon, grapefruit and lots of grass. Taste is sweet and limey with some grapefruit, grass and passionfruit to complement. Bitterness lingers on the tongue and grows with every sip. Liquorice works its way into the palate further into the drink. Light, oily body with a light carbonation.
