COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ruthless India Pale Ale

Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds.

For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Draught at BrewDog, Camden on 16 Dec 2012. Poured a lightly hazy pale golden, with a dense white head and some lacing. Wonderful aroma of fresh hops, zesty citrus and straw. Really dry on the tongue, with some tropical fruits in the mix and grapefruit. Finish was bitter resin, dry cereal and a small amount of caramel.

On tap at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki, Greece. Pours an orange golden beer, slighty hazy, with a small off-white head, with okay retention, leaving almost non existent lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, pine, very appealing. Great taste, lots of pine, hops, a bit of resin, grapefruit too, very bitter with the bitterness having a really long duration. Medium body, good carbonation, good dryness on the palate. Great beer, lots of hops and bitterness, highly drinkable, if I didn’t have to get up early I’d have stayed for another.

Bottle, from Tesco, Kirkwall. Faintly hazy gold, thin short lived white head and gentle condition. Big citrus and fruity nose with hints of grapefruit and pineapple, lots of hop resin and a little malty sweetness. In the mouth it is restrained hop bitterness with more fruitiness, citrus and a little pine resin, finish is long and bitter but never excessively so
