Ruthless India Pale Ale

Start with a colossal grapefruit aroma. Pile on bitterness after thumping bitterness, and ride the anarchy wherever it takes you. The caramel razor is sharp, but the resinous bite drills straight through your taste buds.

For blitzing the mediocre, raising hell and revelling in the aftermath, Jack Hammer is the end of the line. The hopped-up, pucker-mouthed terminal extreme of craft brewing. This beer is bitter. Very bitter. If you push that button, don’t say we didn’t warn you…

Pours lager pale yellow with medium carbonation and disappearing head. Good strong smell of citrus, with plenty of gratefruit, kiwi, lemon, herbs and some straw in there. It certainly is bitter, too bitter, but there’s also sweetness in there and a long bitter citrus finish which is OK, but not that pleasant. A hint of booze on the finish is nice. Was hoping for more malt and body given the ABV. It’s good, but a little disappointed with this one. Fair play to them though for chucking everything at it to make a distinctive beer.

Pours clear pale golden. Citrus, grapefruit aroma. Very bitter, but still balanced. Very good! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Smell of strong citrus, slightly stronger than punk IPA. Taste is very flavorful, good citrus (mainly grape fruit) and some bitter. Aftertaste of citrus. Love it!

Shared bottle at the 4th International Beer Swap in De Bierboom, Brugge on 5th Feb 2016. How do you like your sour end citrus beers? I am not a fan, but I know many others are. This suits the tropical fruit and citrus flavoured beer lovers to a tee: but it’s not my thing. Scored objectively.

Un cervezón, con cuerpo ligero pero amarga desde la entrada hasta el fional, tal y como a mí me gusta!, entra sola y tiene una personalidad única.

Poured into a taster showing moderately filtered grapefruit yellow and half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows mango and pineapple. The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Flavors of very light pineapple and a strong bitterness on the finish. Pretty standard IPA.

Bottled, 330 ml. Clear golden one with a medium sized broad pored white head on it, which leaves a thin film behind. Grapefruity nose. Aroma has biscuits, florals, pine, citrusses and resin, slick feel. Lingering, gently warming, bittersweet grapefruity-herbal finish. Enjoyable.

So delicious and rare to find a fresh pint. This one at brewdog bar was amazing. Lovely fruity and citrusy flavor profile with bitterness that was strong and lingering but not at all harsh like it can be in many west coast ipas.

On tap in Brewdog Soho. Smells like cut grass, herbs and grapefruit. All in one. Pours clear and pale with almost no head. A blast of flavor. Perfectly balanced beer.
