3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On-Tap at Brewdog Aberdeen (Schooner):
Lychee and bitter hops to begin with some pine and citrus along with a bit of grapefruit making up most of the rest. There is a solid IPA aroma to this one with a fruity smell in the background.
Light amber with a clear body and a thin, foamy white head on top that is more of a lacing.
Dark fruits and bitter hops to begin and a helping of grapefruit and pine too. There is some strong bitter notes and and touch of sweet malts as well as some tropical flavouring.
Bitter with a medium body and moderate carbonation. There is a nice citrus tang and a slightly dry finish.
A nice, very bitter IPA that had some good fruit notes and a strong, hoppy taste. This one would fall somewhere in between Brewdogs Punk IPA and their Hardcore IPA in both style and taste.

Malts, caramel, moderately hoppy, orange, citrus, grapefruit.
Yellow/golden beer with a slight white head.
Starts rather sweet with malts and caramel, leading to a bitter finish with citrus fruits and hops.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Chilled and into a tulip. Misty honey gold with a steady inch of rocky, snow-white foam. Very clean cut, whole hop nose; resinous with a heavy camphorous bite with hints of honeydew, bitter orange, eucalypt and a little pot pourri. Hmmm, expecting a Jack Hammer and got more rubber mallet on the palate. Soft, creamy mouthfeel floats like a cloud. Finishes clean with light mint and camphor. Supple fruit sweetness upfront with a little fruity eau de toilette. Peach and lychee with an astringency just before the bitter peak on the swallow. Lacks a little in depth. Clean and easy drinking but just another pale, pale ale! (33cL, BB 26/06/16, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. Pale golden color, medium white head which lasts till the end of the glass. Aroma is very strong. Grapefruit, pine, orange, grass. In flavor beside grapefruit some caramel and just a bit of pepper notes. Light-medium body. No suprise with so much hops that alcohol is well hidden. Actually very balanced for 100 ibu although maybe some more complex malt notes will fit also in this beer. Anyway, good beer.

Can. Pale gold with a white head that settles to a good coat. Aroma has pine, herbs and honey before you get to grapefruit. Somewhat oily texture, moderate carbonation. Sweet, slightly honeyed hay, just enough to support the hop really, but there’s some presence. Perhaps less resinous than expected, with pine pretty much in the mix with a variety of citrus orange and kumquat as much as grapefruit. There’s a big thunk of bitter and aromatic hops and then it’s almost gone, with some herbal zest remaining. Loud and a bit dull.

One for the hopheads - resiny grapefruit is the order of the day. Does look a little anemic on the appearance.

I think it’s -18 in the basement. I’m scared to take a leak cuz I don’t want cubes to tumble out. Dumped a bunch of the sediment in by accident. So far so good as the aroma is pretty nice. Very fruity, resin, rrgf, fuzzy peaches, pineapple, light white wine. It’s really bitter and basically lives up to its own hype. Resin and bitterness, bitterness, caramel and bitterness, rrgf and bitterness, bitterness, peach and bitterness, bitterness, bitterness. Not overly deep but the flavour is good enough and fights through the endless attack. A bit oily with a moderate body. Slight spice and at some point a while ago I’m pretty sure I found the alcohol on a long, slow sip. Good stuff.

From the can. Pours a bright orangey-gold, slightly hazy, half a finger of disappearing white head, minimal lacing. Huge nose of pine and resin, smells like a bitter hop beast. Tastes similar, doesn’t seem like much to it. Thankfully it opens up a bit halfway down the glass, and I get sharp notes of orange rind, grapefruit. Quite a lingering harsh bitterness that does settle. Overall an enjoyable IPA for those who like a bit of kick. A little more bitter and fruity sour than I would’ve preferred but well done.
