4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20

Poured from a tap. Clear, pale orange colour. Brilliant nose. Hoppy, fresh citrus, grapefruit sharp some piney also. Dry in taste, fruity with bitter aftertaste. Simply the best IPA from BrewDog.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
33cl bottle from "cerveteca" bar in Lisbon. It pours an opaque golden color with a very creamy and persistent white head. Aroma is of a strong pine grassy hops, some floral notes and a heavy fruity green mango nose. Taste is overwhelmingly hoppy and piney with some malts. It begins with some fresh sweetness from the citrus and ultimately ends with a very long and powerful bitterness. It is moderately carbonated with a medium body and a very dry finish. This is definitely a "hop bomb". One of the best I ever tasted. I would definitely try to taste more beers from this style. Cheers for BrewDog!

Excellent authentic west coast IPA, very bitter but that’s how a real IPA from the west coast IPA should be, highly recommend this to any hop heads out there!

From a 330ml bottle on 13/9/2014 (bottle labelled 7.2%, not 7.4%). Pours a slightly opaque light golden with bugger all head. Has a delightful floral, fruit salad, passionfruity nose. Flavour wise, there’s grass, lemon, mandarin, peach and a bog load of grapefruit. The hops are big, dry and lingering, setting off the initial fruity sweetness nicely. Has a medium to full body and average. A very impressive hop monster.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Botteld. Clear yellowish-golden beer has a thin creamy head with nice lace. Aroma is full of hops. Loads of zesty grapefruit and gooseberry, mellow peaches, minor floral notes and a hint of cat pee. Slightly honeyis when warmer. Overall: very clean and hoppy aroma, only a touch of caramelly and biscuity malts. Strong yet round, slightly piney and grapefruity hop flavor with lots of fresh fruitiness. The dry base malts with a hint of caramel are there just as balancing factor the hops, but it’s really only about the hops. Very dry, greapefruity bitterness in the finish lingering forever. Medium body, definately feels lighter that 7.2 % abv, could well be 5 %. Creamy and velvety texture is fresh. Seriously dangerous and delicious hop bomb.

I love the brew dog range or at least the six or seven I have sampled. For me this one is not their best. As IPAs of 7.2% or thereabouts go I found it too sharp and lacking in underlying "slow to surface" subtle flavours. When compared to say Founders Centennial" it doesn’t quite measure up. IPAs of this strength need to have that initial "I’m not sure about this beer" factor for the first few sips but then grow on you so that half way through the drinking experience is totally different from your first impression. For me Jack Hammer had the "I’m not sure" factor but it never totally grew on me. Definitely not a bad beer but not as good as Punk or the black IPA (delicious) whose name I can never remember. Brew Dog, I am still a big fan. Send me a free case of Tokyo and I will change this review instantly.

Light orange appearance. Rich aroma of tropical fruits. Dry taste, hoppy, fruity, strong fruity bitterness, a great example of a west coast IPA.
