COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Dark fruit chocolate cake aroma, a study in contrast. Not pitch black, only pitch brown, like tree sap. Very bitter quick start, long ashy malt finish. Body is crisp and is mid weight when you expect viscosity. Pretty nice example of hoppy dark ales.

33 cl, bottled. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma: Fruity hops, citrus. Pleasant hopping. Taste: Medium sweet, vanilla notes. Hints of soap. Slight licorice. Notes of wood. A bit flat, yet interesting. Palate: Quite medium body. Pleasant hop bite. Pretty good black IPA.

Bottle - black with slim tan head. Dark fruits and malt in the aroma, chocolate, liquorice. Well balanced set of flavours, roasted maltiness and good hops. Medium bodied, some liveliness on the tongue. Like it, very nice.

330 ml bottle. Black, with adense tan head. Aroma of herbal hops, roasted malt, notes of citrus and liquorice. Flavour of salty liquorice, grapefruit and hoppy bitterness, with roasted malt in the background. Tasty.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2014 Solid black pour, aroma of malt, tropical fruits and grass. Taste is malty, with a few usual tropical elements lingering in the back, and a subtle bitter hops finish seeing the beer out. Very good

Black body with lasting tan head. Ganja smoke, dry black malt aromas. Medium body. Dry dark chocolate malt flavors with floral, pine hoppage___good.

Pours black, with medium head. Aroma is dark malts, raisins, some grassy hops. Taste is mostly dark malts with some alcohol. Bitterness could by higher, also i’d like it with a little less body. Overally it is quite nice, but for me it was more like Rochefort 8 than some IPA/DIPA

Bottle from BottleSelect.com. Pours dark brown/black with red glints and a slight tan head. Aroma is herb and chocolate. Med body, maybe. Flavor is chocolate and herb. Some coffee. Finishes maltily bitter with some astringency.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours black with light brown head. Taste is coffee, chocolate. Hops are herbal seems like the bitterness is from the malts.
