pours clear very dark brown with a nice creamy light beige head, good retention and lacing. chocolatey and roasted malts, bitter chocolate and burnt nuts, lightly sweet burnt caramel, coffee, resin, citrus, hint of maple, bit of dust, tobacco. moderate to low carbonation, light to medium body - oily, nice lightly piney-resinous finish, never harsh. good balance and good drinkability for stated abv, just a tad too sweet for my liking. still.. much enjoyed!

33cl bottle. Hops and caramel malt - both are extremely complex and fully loaded. Pitch black, clear with brown thick (1/4 Guinness) head, and very beautiful lacing. Medium bitter with thin sweet aftertaste. Chocolate, charred oak, dark roasted malts and all of that infused with hoppy bitterness. Feels like 1/3 Alice Porter and 2/3 Hardcore IPA mixed together. Surprisingly refreshing. Drink it as is, without any snacks.

I’m becoming a fan of black IPAs and this is defnitely pushing me further along the way. It strikes a great balance between the sharp citrusy hops and the sweet caramel flavours from the malt. Very drinkable too. Stand aside Guinness.

33cl bottle, served in Irish Pint. Pours very dark copper with a big beige frothy head. The aroma is quite citrusy, with lots of orange peel and caramel notes (so good). The taste is dark chocolate, sweet malts and hints of licorice. Nice bitterness, very well balanced. Medium body, good carbonation. Just what one can expect from a Black IPA.

Semplicemente divina.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Pours black with a moderate tan head. Nice frothy fizz in a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel that is maybe a little sticky by the end. Aroma of tropical fruit - mango and pineapple- gets a bit sweet, like those old fruit salad chewy sweets. On tasting there’s pine up front with a little lemon, then more fruit salad sweets and strawberry bubble gum, followed by vanilla, cola, chocolate and a little charcoal. Definitely complex and unusual, but rather too sweet for me by the end.
