Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Decent darker beer that fits its description well. The IPA nature is prominent, as well as the clear hoppy taste.

33cl bottle at cerveteca bar in Lisbon. It pours a black colour with a rich and creamy tan head that lasts. Aroma is citrus and piney hops, fruity and some caramel malts. Taste is obviously citruisy, a little sweet from the toffee, spicy, roasted malts and pretty bitter overall. It has a medium body with decent carbonation. That’s a good IPA as usual.

the aroma is caramel and herbal with hints of coffee and pine needles... the taste is spicy, malty and fruity with notes of pine, toffee, licorice, grapefruit and coffee... intensive hopping... dry bitter aftertaste...

Barwa ciemnobrunatna, niemal czarna. Piana obfita, lekko beżowa. Wyraźne aromaty amerykańskich chmieli - czuć cytrusy i sosnę. Alkohol świetnie zamaskowany, goryczka średnia. Niesamowicie pijalne Black IPA!

12 oz bottle. Aroma: roasty, malty, and chalky, with hints of coffee and ash. Taste/Palate: over-carbonated and sweet; finishes bitter and astringent. Not a favorite. Astringency is a killer for me.

Poured from a 12. Aroma is a malty IPA smell. The beer is a bit over carbonated so the first taste packs a bit of a punch. Once you get into the main part of the beer it is a roasty, dark chocolatey, coffee flavor. The head is almost like a milkshake and this beer tasted ever so slightly like a real beer shake. Would have been much better if it wasn’t so overcarbonated.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy beige head that faded to a thin wispy film. The nose is well balanced between the Simcoe hops and the chocolate and roasty malts. The flavor is equally well balanced, the hops are bright and fresh up front, with the malt taking over towards the finish. A rather drinkable BIPA with the hops being rather bright, but not overly bitter, allowing the malt to still shine. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation, enough hops on the finish to drive you to want another sip rather quickly. Pretty nice beer.
