3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Draught at BrewDog Camden, London, 21 Nov 2012) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of chocolate, pine needles and grapefruit. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, chocolate, grapefruit, pine needles and a generous bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid and well made black IPA. Very nice.

Bottle. Black with a tan head. Huge tropical hop aroma. Flavour is mango, grapefruit with a toffee and chocolate counterpoint from the malt. Starts sweet with a pithy bitter finish. Really good.

Brewdog Camden 6 Nov 12. Ultradyprød/svart. Lavt skum som varer litt. Veldig god & søt fruktaroma. Plommer. Litt tung. Smaken det samme. Tungdrikkelig men bra.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
dark colour, creamy brownish head; aroma of herbs and citrus, taste of citrus and hoppy bitterness, with some minimal malty sweetness; significant, long lasting bitter aftertaste, really great IPA

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle, 10C. Clear, almost black, an inch of light beige head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, orange zest, touch of singed sugars and chocolate. Fairly light-bodied. Not much sweetness, but hints of chocolate and roast, zesty citrus flavours, nectarine, some pine. Wouldn’t have minded a touch more bitterness. Dry finish with pine and oranges. Nice, hits what the style is supposedly about pretty squarely.

Bottle at home on Xmas day. Hoppy, blackcurrant, licquorice and cocoa. Slips down nice and lightly. Hides the abv (which is actually 7.2%) well. Name is all wrong though, i think it should be called ’cold turkey purple monkey’, but that is just my opinion.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Jet black, no head; serious hoppy aroma - pine cones; highly carbonated; very hoppy pineapple/grapefruit flavour; some slightly roasted malt, but much more IPA than stout and much thinner than anticipated; just as with Dead Pony Club theres loads of flavour but it lacks some body; still very enjoyable though.

.33l bottle @ BD webstore
Pours almost black, deep dark brown/red with low tan head. Aroma is hopsy, floral. Flavor is nicely bitter. Hops, citrus, pine. Nice, well balanced flavor! Dryish palate. Swell!
