Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Bottle from the Grumpy Goat. Extremely dark ruby - almost black. Hints of coffee aroma, and peaches. More peaches in the taste, liquorice, and bitterness balancing sweetness. Extremely well balanced and tasty beer - best Iíve had from Brewdog. Hope it becomes a core beer for them!

Black and hazy in appearance. Rich aroma with coffee, dark chocolate abd roasted malt. Taste comprises largely of the same elements, but has distinct bitterness, which highlights in the finish. Well worth tasting!

Bottle from Kadaka Selver in Tallinn, August 2014. Pours a deep brown; in the glass itís absolute blackness - not a single lightbeam will penetrate this. Head is creamy beige, frothy, well retaining; dense lacing. Nose... an intoxicating yet subtle melange of the roasted malts and the pungent, musky Simcoe... I could sniff this for hours, and then some more. Taste is at first quite mellow in its citrus-dominated fruitiness, then building up the more bitter straightforwardness, finishing in a thin, roasty blanket, barely covering the precedent sweet and bitter notes. Thereís also a certain chocolaty aspect to it. Near the end I sense a soothing alcoholic warmth there too. Itís got a surprisingly light body, and very soft carbonation. Iíve always loved this beer. Once when some guy accidentally pushed over my just bought glass of Libertine at Brewdog Shoreditch, I nearly cried...
