Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Appearance: Black with 3 finger thick tan head. Aroma: Toast, musky, orange/grapefruit marmalade and pine. Taste: Low sweet and sourness with medium/high bitterness. Palate: Thick coarse texture, light body, average carbonation, astringent bitter, burnt/roast malty, citrus finish. Comments: Tasty and glass lace. But very bitter.

Kita (988) - Koper, SLOVENIA - DEC 19, 2013
Bottled, 0.33l. Cloudy almost black color with medium sized creamy, mostly diminishing light brown head and fair lacing. Aroma of fruity hops, mainly citrus and passionfruit, roasted malt and coffee. Taste starts with light sweet chocolate, follows by strong coffee and fresh fruity notes, mouthfeel of spicy malt, while finish is moderate bitter with long aftertaste. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Excellent balance of roasted malt and fruity hops...

Cerveza IPA negra, espuma beige bastante cremosa y de consistencia media, gasificación media. Aroma a mitad de camino entre una cerveza stout y una IPA. Sabor lupulado, afrutado y a malta tostada. Final ligeramente dulce y alcohólico.

A heavenly fruity hop aroma. Very hops in the taste as well, but when it comes to the finish as the beer gets too much bitterness according to me. Aftertaste lands on the side of the tongue and left for a while. The smell was fine with losing a little taste unfortunately. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

330ml bottle, pours opaque brownish black with a medium sized tan head with good retention. Aroma of grapefruit, orange peels and roasted malts. Taste of grapefruit, orange peels, roasted malt a hint of butterscotch and chocolate. Medium bitterness with a light sweetness. Medium body, smooth texture and average carbonation. A delicious beer with, my only complaint is the low availability.

Glouglouburp (5944) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 16, 2013
In short: A richly malted dark ale with a gigantinormous amount of resinous fruity hops. Intense beer that is easy to drink for a hophead like me.
How: Bottle 330ml, consumed as soon as we got it in Montreal but already nearing expiration date.
The look: Dark mahogany body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose is roasted and moderately hoppy with hops showing a strong resinous character along with dank and fruity edges. In mouth the beer feels rather rich, creamy texture, lively carbonation, a mouthfeel similar to many Belgian Strong ales. Taste is more hoppy than expected. This is not aromatic hop bomb but Brewdog went nuts with the bittering hops, very resinous, very sticky. All that fruity hops resin blends with the roaszted malts to create a flavor of dark fruits swimming in sticky molasses. Bitterness of high intensity with hops resin dominating the after-taste. Is it the hop biting my palate or do I feel an alcohol bite in this merely 7% thick body black ale? This wasn’t a fresh bottle and I thought it was hoppy as hell. Strangely easy to drink, but honestly I now find just about all beer that don’t feel sweet easy to drink, and here the sweetness is crushed by the resinous hops. I may write awesome flawless beer ratings but it is never to late too make some typos.

PriorL (1643) - Gent, BELGIUM - DEC 16, 2013
33cl bottle. APPEARANCE: black beer, nice stable beige head. NOSE: hoppy, little coffee, but mostly very hoppy and fruity! TASTE: hoppy, fruity, than the more coffee, chocolate like aftertaste. Quite heavy and maybe not completely balanced for it’s style. But very enjoyable beer!
