Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

I’m becoming a fan of black IPAs and this is defnitely pushing me further along the way. It strikes a great balance between the sharp citrusy hops and the sweet caramel flavours from the malt. Very drinkable too. Stand aside Guinness.

33cl bottle, served in Irish Pint. Pours very dark copper with a big beige frothy head. The aroma is quite citrusy, with lots of orange peel and caramel notes (so good). The taste is dark chocolate, sweet malts and hints of licorice. Nice bitterness, very well balanced. Medium body, good carbonation. Just what one can expect from a Black IPA.

Semplicemente divina. ---Rated BY Italianbeer85

Black with white head. Aroma is nice roast. Taste is sweet with very mild hops.Overall, not a complex or big black ipa, but very sessional.

Bottle from Brewdog online shop. Pours black with a moderate tan head. Nice frothy fizz in a surprisingly creamy mouthfeel that is maybe a little sticky by the end. Aroma of tropical fruit - mango and pineapple- gets a bit sweet, like those old fruit salad chewy sweets. On tasting there’s pine up front with a little lemon, then more fruit salad sweets and strawberry bubble gum, followed by vanilla, cola, chocolate and a little charcoal. Definitely complex and unusual, but rather too sweet for me by the end.

330 ml bottle from Premier Wine and Spirits. Pours a dark brown with orange edges pale tan edges. Aroma is lightly roasty with anise and citrusy hops. Flavour is roasty caramel, anise, hints of cocoa, citrus and pine. Body is lighter than one might expect. Very good.

Dark brown color with ruby reflex. Huge fluffy beige head lasting to the end. Fabulous view! Strong aroma of citrusy and piney. Taste is ever better, lots of american hops, after appears fantastic notes of roasted bariery. At the end some ashy elements. Perfect balance of hops and roastiness. One point lower cause of too high carbonation. Aboslutely remerkable Black IPA!
