COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

On tap at Dutch’s. Keg filled 11/10/13, delivered "fresh" from the importer. Par for the course on BrewDog beers over here in the states, though. Black color. Thin ring of khaki head. Leaves decent reaches and bits of lace. Medium to bigger body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. More dry finish. Good roast malt, coffee aromas in the finish. Earthy, piney hop. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, very light sweet. Good black IPA to sip on.. Good bigger dark malt flavor on it, very much like a stout with an IPA level of hops.

Bottle, Tesco Galashiels. Sneaked this onto the wifes online shopping, must try that again! This has a rich malty nose but the high hop content is apparent, an interesting aroma, I can’t say I’ve come across anything like this before! As expected, this has a good bit of body, again big on (roasted) malt, but the citrus edge of the hops quickly comes to the fore...there’s a lot going on here, quite sweet but it finishes clean and it lingers well! A cracking brew!

Drunk from 33cl bottle bought at Malting Pot, Brussels. Dark beer. A hoppy and successful combination of an IPA and a dark black stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
