COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

UPDATED: AUG 17, 2014 330ml bottle. Pours like black oil with a light tan head. The flavour is sweet, toasted malt and creamy toffee. This is well balanced by medium bitter hops. Creamy mouthfeel. Really good beer.

Bottle. Batch 203. Best before 27-08-14. Black bodied with a tall, dense brown head. Citrus and floral hops intermingle with dark chocolate and roasted malt in the nose. Taste buds record citrus fruit, roasted malt, floral hops, dark chocolate, burnt caramel dark bread and toasted grains. Body is medium and slightly chewy with a strong, dense, bubbly carbonation. Lingering mild hop bitterness. Ends with more roasted malt, softer citrus, floral hops, dark chocolate, cocoa, caramel notes and dark bread.

Nice hoppy aroma with both citrus and pine combined with a hint of maltiness.
Black with beige head
The taste is a nice combo of chocolate and coffe rounded of with liquorice and coffe in the finish that is somewhat bitter. The finish is long lasting.
Medium body, soft carbonation, dry texture
Very nice combination of hops and malt like it shouold be in this style. Great example of the style.
