Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Barwa ciemnobrunatna, niemal czarna. Piana obfita, lekko beżowa. Wyraźne aromaty amerykańskich chmieli - czuć cytrusy i sosnę. Alkohol świetnie zamaskowany, goryczka średnia. Niesamowicie pijalne Black IPA!

Aroma: roasty, malty, and chalky, with hints of coffee and ash. Taste/Palate: over-carbonated and sweet; finishes bitter and astringent. Not a favorite. Astringency is a killer for me.

Poured from a 12. Aroma is a malty IPA smell. The beer is a bit over carbonated so the first taste packs a bit of a punch. Once you get into the main part of the beer it is a roasty, dark chocolatey, coffee flavor. The head is almost like a milkshake and this beer tasted ever so slightly like a real beer shake. Would have been much better if it wasn’t so overcarbonated.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small fizzy beige head that faded to a thin wispy film. The nose is well balanced between the Simcoe hops and the chocolate and roasty malts. The flavor is equally well balanced, the hops are bright and fresh up front, with the malt taking over towards the finish. A rather drinkable BIPA with the hops being rather bright, but not overly bitter, allowing the malt to still shine. Medium bodied with soft fizzy carbonation, enough hops on the finish to drive you to want another sip rather quickly. Pretty nice beer.

Rated on 10-27-2014 (Bottle - Batch 200 Best Before 21-08-14) This beer pours a smooth tan head that mostly diminishes, opaque black brown body, very little carbonaton, and a fair amount of lacing adorns my glass. The aroma is caramel malt, citrus hops and fruity. The flavor is moderate bitterness, citrus hops, roasted malt, and sweet. The mouthfeel is lively carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is very quaffable and is worth trying.

Bottle pours black with a lively khaki head that lasts. Aroma has piney hops and nice chocolate roasted malt yeast and pretty bitter. Palate is medium chalky. Pretty solid black ipa.

33cl bottle at home. Dark brown with a tan head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Nice bitterness with some dark sweetness. Chocolate, brown sugar, caramel, roasted malts, grapefruit and licorice. A great tasteful black IPA!

Smells like coca-cola. Nice black drink with a thin white head. Very smooth beer if a bitter licorice taste.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2014 Yes, i am a Black IPA fan. And i heard "close your eyes and drink. If you feel like you arte drinking IPA, you are drinking a good black IPA" I don’t have to close my eyes to feel that this is one of greastest beers i’ve ever drinked.
