Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with an enormous foamy dark tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. Massively overcarbonated. The flavor was dryish with notes of anise and floral hops. The flavor was dry, roasty, woody and had notes of anise and floral hops. Long dry and roasty finish with lingering floral hops. Medium body. Ok.

330ml bottle served in a pint glass. A: Pours a dark brown color forming a medium and creamy tan head. Medium retention and some lingering thin lacings formed and left S: A mix of roasted malts and flowery hops. A bit fruity with some notes of apple pie T: Great mix of roasted malts and grassy and pinny hops. Notes of caramel malts and apples. In overall, a quite dry and bitter taste. Perfect mix of roasted malts and pinny hops bitterness. Yeasts have a very American Pale Ale profile with a nice earthy taste in the very end M: Medium body and carbonation. Toasted malts with a strong punch of pinny hops in the aftertaste O: Great drinkability. Perfect definition of black IPA [ BA Review @ 5/13/2014 ]

Powerful and very dark black-ale in the neighbourhood of strong porters and weak russian stouts. Beautifully black with creamy yellow foam, smells of malt and christmas pastries. Taste complex with liquorice, oil, some brown liquor and ruccola. Rather thin in flow, yet with thick and vinous aftertaste. Interesting carbonation in the "pre"-taste. Brew Dog knows what they are doing.

Bottle. Murky black with a small brown head. Aroma is strong with pine, citrus and liquorice. Taste has anis, soy, pine, roasted malt and salty water. Mouthfeel is smooth, body is medium thick. Aftertaste is bitter and long with pine. Pleasantly light, well balanced.

Poured with a thick light tan head that lasts a long time, good lacing and and opaque Black brown color. aroma is like a hoppy stout. Flavor is like aroma, but some of the flavors clash. Body is perfect. Finish is marred by the clashing flavors which end up being somewhat medicinal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

BOTTLE 33 CL. Look: black with ruby-red highlights, beige frothy head. Aroma: juicy hops, mango, tropical fruit, a bit meaty/yeasty, no black aromas. Taste: again hops, light sweetness, balanced by both hop and very light (like a thin irish stout) roasted malt bitterness. Light acidity.
