Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Bottle. Black color with creamy head (which stays not too much time). Aroma of grapefruit, pine. Taste is bitter-sweet. Aftertaste is very continuous, hoppy and with nice notes of coffee. Great tasty beer.

Excellent. Was not a palate wrecker by any stretch. It pours an opaque black and gives off nutty, subtle pine aromas backed up by a generous hit of unexpected roast malt, which outweighs the expected aggressive hit of resinous glory.

Bottle, bb 4-2015. Pours black with a quickly dimisnishing tan head. Aroma: wow! grass, pine, citrus, herbs. Taste: liquorice, pine, resin, roast, tropical fruits, coffee, salt, bay leaf, cocao . Full body, oily mouthfeel. light-medium sweetnes, medium-high bitterness. Long lasting resin, liquorice, salty, coffee finish. Lovely, I want more already!

Lots of flavour here, tropical, pineapple, candied fruit, smell, pine nuts, dark brown, creamy head, lots of lacing throughout the drink, not your average brew dog at all, bottle at bottle shop.

God, I love a good black IPA. Keg @ BrewDog Nottingham. Black and opaque, with a small thin tan head. Confusingly ambrosial aroma of pine and citrus hop combined with liquorice and plum. The bittersweet taste and sweet/salty finish are predictable but still incredible.
