COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled, occasional
Libertine Black Ale is a 7.2% wickedly decadent black beast of a beer that has been hammered with the epic Simcoe hop. With a drinkability that defies its colour and depth of flavour, Libertine delivers a dark hop bomb combining the west coast hop awesomeness of an IPA, the dark and indulgent malt flavours of big stout with a lightness on the palate that bellies the punch that this beer packs. Bags of flavour and loads of hops. We intend to bottle some of this batch for those not lucky enough to make it to a BrewDog Bar to try it. ABV from 7% to 7.2%.

Poured into snifter from bottle, super dark with a chocolate head. Very hoppy up front with a bitter, malty exit. Not bad, but I would put many choices well ahead of this.

Bottle from Kadaka Selver in Tallinn, August 2014. Pours a deep brown; in the glass itís absolute blackness - not a single lightbeam will penetrate this. Head is creamy beige, frothy, well retaining; dense lacing. Nose... an intoxicating yet subtle melange of the roasted malts and the pungent, musky Simcoe... I could sniff this for hours, and then some more. Taste is at first quite mellow in its citrus-dominated fruitiness, then building up the more bitter straightforwardness, finishing in a thin, roasty blanket, barely covering the precedent sweet and bitter notes. Thereís also a certain chocolaty aspect to it. Near the end I sense a soothing alcoholic warmth there too. Itís got a surprisingly light body, and very soft carbonation. Iíve always loved this beer. Once when some guy accidentally pushed over my just bought glass of Libertine at Brewdog Shoreditch, I nearly cried...

Tap at brewdog, shepherds bush. Pours dark brown/black with a tan head. Overripe fruit, light treacle aroma. Medium body, medium carbonation. Light choc and light coffee with slightly sticky tropical fruit and light treacle. Tasty. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Een bier met een heel uitgesproken smaak, maar spijtig genoeg niets voor mij.

No date - bottle thanks to Brent, I believe. Black pour with a nice tan head and plenty of lacing. Hoppy aroma hits first, mild grapefruit, some pine, followed by light ashiness and cooked coffee. Decent meld of flavors, that fruity hoppiness mixed with a mild roasty bitterness. Not bad, but didnít blow me away.

A metallic pine aroma from a black body and a thin foamy white head, tastes of coffee and chocolate with a mild corriander coming in the aftertaste.
